Well, kind of.

Mavic was independent until it was bought by Salomon in 1992. Then Salomon was bought by Adidas in 1997, which then changed its name to Adidas-Salomon. Adidas sold the Salomon group (which included Mavic) to Amer Sports in 2005. So in a way, this is only the second time that Mavic has changed direct ownership (the first was when it was bought by Salomon), as it remained under Salomon when the ultimate parent company was Adidas-Salomon and Amer Sports.

Two things jump out. Enve isn't being sold, so I'm wondering if they're selling it back to the previous owners and Regent is private equity. Betting they suck all the money out and kill the franchise

Mavic was a notable underperformer for Amer. Regent is not a typical PE firm, based on its current portfolio companies. Might or might not work out but it was not working at Amer.

Probably silver Open Pro clinchers. I have some older bikes and I want a stock of rims that can be built up on old Record hubs. I also have some modern Campy wheels as well.

I have Mavic's on my gravel bike. They're a solid performer. Not the most exciting wheel but for my Firefly it fit the bill

I chewed up a lot of kilometers and competitive events on an early 90's mavic group. Absolutely loved the performance and durability of that stuff. I had all of the BB and hub bearing tools even though the bearings seldom needed much fuss. They shot themselves in the foot with Zap, and then put the barrel to the temple with Metronic. Oh what a shame. I carried on with some of the rubbish that followed, but then cut the mortal coil when they teetered on the rim of the abyss. If they swallowed hard, and fortified the Reflex tub by, say, 50 grams, I'd join them in bed again.

Timely to this discussion, the Mavic booth at NAHBS yesterday had four new Mavic carbon bare rims that I checked out and thought would be good build choices if the prices are reasonable.
The brake tracks on the rim versions have the resin removed from the surface for braking performance and there are two different depths for both rim and disc applications.

$500 each for all four models, deep/shallow and disc/rim.

Can't really argue with this..I met with a mavic guy at Interbike and mentioned the OpenPro 'loose wedge', rim click issue, which we had seen a dozen times and got the 'we have never heard of this before'...Last gen OpenPro..STILL have that issue. Throw in a different spoke length seems like introduced weekly for these aluminum spoke wheels and cheap, poor design rear hubs(now improved tho)..sorry, not a fan..To bad too cuz they have made some really great stuff.
