Congrats to Mike Z for his win in today's Lake Pleasant (Greenfield, MA) Men's C cross race.
He out powered a freind of mine to the line for the win.

PS 92 degrees, I ended up at the Greenfield hospital ER to have a 3" gash in the knee looked at for stitches. In the end, none were required.
It sure didn't look THAT bad with the tights on.....

Thanks, everyone! Especially you, Ginger!!!
What a wierd feeling. I only ever won a crit in a sprint, so leading a race outright was a very strange feeling. We had a lead group of four with 2 laps to go. I attacked on a fire road section thinking everyone would jump on my wheel, but there was no reaction. I buried myself for the remainder of the race and won my a comfortable margin. I even won a jar of homemade honey!
It wasn't a big Verge race or anything. But I tell ya, leading is a lot different than riding in the lead group. So many things going on in your head. I figured out on the last lap that it was best not to think and better to pedal my legs off!
I was especially proud of my little lady who scored her first upgrade points with a 4th place. And we even got medals!
Fun stuff.

Great job Mike! You're too humble. You didn't tell me you won and I had to split before the presentation.
Bruce! Stay away from those bricks!
Tough race -- particularly doing the run-up after the climb on the road after the climb in the woods.

Mike was racing on the prototype - I've asked him to create a cross bike I cannot lose on! :) (Damn you, William and yer effin' bike!)
-Of course how could I lose? - just racing will be a blast!
