I guessed 900 bucks.
These are a steal.

I guess laces are lighter than buckles.

Psht. Adam Hansen is building his for under 95 grams per shoe now, and it's not even his full-time job. Course the 2,500 Euro price is a tad more expensive.

Arghh. My eyes!

Seriously fugly shoe.

My anticipation is they will fall apart with minimal use.
I find it unlikely they would offer substantial durability.

Is this just to get around the UCI rule that all equipment must be commercially available?

Anyone ever seen a pair of Hanseenos other than on Adam?

My favorite Pearl Izumi road shoes are 300g each, so one-third as heavy sounds like it might be almost disposable(?).

Light, durable(?), and inexpensive, well two out of three here would be pretty good imo.

It's ok if they only ever make 500 pair(s) of these, as long as the lessons learned can benefit their more-mainstream offerings.
I've raced CX for years with a couple of pairs of their mid-range Body Geometry MTB shoes and they have been mostly very good although one out of four shoes had a buckle strap tear off.

IMO the S Works 7 road shoe is perfect.

This one must be 75% more perfect.

Who wants to pay 2,500 Euros and wait till the offseason for Adam to put together a pair of shoes that require in-person custom molds?

I agree it's probably a workaround.

I know what the price is.........but I'm more interested in the standard EXOS model @ US$500. I adjust shoes during rides..........

I've played around with the Bora prototypes of this shoe and they are really quite cool and well thought out. It is nice to see all of the technologies they are compressing into this one product and I'm sure it will benefit future shoes in a very real way... so thrilled to see the aesthetics of the production shoe, they look great.

Having said all that, the real advantage of the shoe over their other stuff is more likely to be the aero performance than the weight as they are very smooth and thin throughout the construction, if they only came with a speedplay specific sole.. I'd happily give up another 100 grams per pair for that!

I might get the standard ones at 150g/shoe just for sh*ts and giggles to see how much different they are vs my current Sidis. Saving over 190g/ foot is nothing to sneeze at!

Remember when Specialized pushed the price of a mtb past $10k?

We are all Cinderella looking for our slipper.

Josh is right - we will all benefit from the trickle down. I love that they are pushing the envelope.

I'm sure the WW crowd will buy, then drill holes in them and sand off the paint in order to save an extra 4-5 more grams!

Really fugly, but at least they are pushing the envelope. 99g is really light for a shoe.

Skeptical about how they ride though.

Shoes definitely have a big impact on the rider, it's one of the components that the rider interfaces with constantly. It also faces the wind, so its shape and surface matters. I wouldn't pay retail for these shoes but I think it's a step in the right direction. Given the choice, I'd be more interested in a modern day "super shoe" instead of a "super bike"

I got a sneak peak of one of these and they are really cool. Felt good on the foot, but I didn't get to ride in it.

Re: laces.

Kind of funny; when clipless shoes first appeared, lace up shoes were standard until they discovered (all marketing, maybe?) laces could not support the shoe under pedaling without the toe strap and clip. Then riders like LeMond were seen adding toe straps to their lace up shoes. Then Velcro straps came along and solved the problem.

And now we've come full-circle and laces are O.K. now?!

The stiffness part of the equation has been solved with carbon fiber soles. Laces are lighterweight and scratch an aesthetic itch.

So maybe a case could be made advances elsewhere on the shoe have brought them back into vogue, along with fashion being cyclical.

Dyneema is a synthetic fibre much like Kevlar. Except it is very abrasion resistant. Where Kevlar is not. It has a high strength to weight ratio. Mostly used in ropes. My wooden white water canoe paddles shaft’s are wrapped with dyneema composite for abrasion resistance and strength.

what if i wrap some carbon sheets around my feet and cut out some holes for the cleats, how much would that weigh compare to those brand shoes?

^The U95 Hansen shoe. He has to "sell" them in order to wear them in the Pro Tour. Possibly

These shoes have been under development for years..... More than half a decade. But it was not until 2013 when they became race ready. They are the lightest shoes in the Pro Pelaton by more then 50%. The price reflects the 42+ hours that go into making a single pair and the 8 molds that are required. They are not cheap by any means but you do get a shoe under 95 grams, hence the name U95. (4-8 week delivery time)

Honestly they should offer service like sending a mold kit like the ones dentists use, do a good feet mold and send them back to the manufacture and have them make custom carbon shoes like that. It would be fantastic. No more buying the wrong size or poor fit... If I'm spending $700 on a pair of recreational sports shoes I want them fit 100%

You can now do this with an iPad. In the custom orthotic world you once had to take plaster casts of your foot, or a step-in foam kind of solution. Now they have an app that you run on an iPad and just scan your foot and it creates a 3D file of your foot.

They've been doing this with hockey skates for a little while and supposedly it works like a charm. And it better as custom skates are upwards of $1200 when all is said and done.

Way better IMHO vs traditional sizing and measuring of yesteryear where they simply relied on a chart with a fitter measuring the pertinent areas with a tape. In college I had a pair custom made by CCM and they never fit as well as the off the shelf Bauers I'd previously worn.

Would love to see similar tech utilized in the future for cycling shoes as there's no place that moves more and requires a better interface than shoe to pedal.
