I broke the little plastic bridge at the rear of a Record 11 (2009-15) front der, that piece that connects the carbon front plate and inboard metal plate. Is it possible to buy that little plastic bit? If so, where, and what is it called?
Or does anyone have one left over from a front der that broke in a different place?

If I understand correctly what broke, that happens frequently so people have either used chorus fds or tranplanted the whole chorus cage into a record/sr fd

That small bracket is not available separately and a spare record cage will cost you dearly.

From 2014

On the SR front derailleur, I purchased a used 11 speed entire unit inexpensively with the customarily beat up carbon/Al. reinforced cage and some slight white logo blemishes, otherwise perfect.

I am not fond of the Campagnolo FD carbon/Al cages, seen way to many of them damaged through routine use. So rather than purchase a replacement cage, I purchased a new Centaur front derailleur for well under the cost of a replacement cage. On wear components I will gladly exchange/accept the minimal weight penalty for reliability.

The SR cage attachment pins and the Centaur cage attachment rivet/pins are the same size 4.0mm and the attachment spacing is almost equal, the slight difference being cage material thickness. Circular SS metric shim is available through McMaster Carr, 4.0mm ID, 8.0mm OD in various thickness starting at 0.1mm, 0.5mm thick, part number 98089A330 if required.

On the Centaur FD I drilled out the cage attachment pin/rivet peened heads, pulled the pins and removed the cage. On the SR FD I popped the C-clips on the cage attachment pins, pulled the pins, removed the cage.

The SR FD reassemble required some wrestling with the springs, pushing the attachment pins through the lined up actuating arms, springs, shims and cage attachment holes, snap the C-clips back on the pins and your done.

Oh, and there was some minor additional dabs of Phil waterproof grease in there also!

record and super record's front derailleur cage reminds me why top end groupset aren't for everyday rides unless you have lots of money to burn. Letting a piece of carbon repeatedly rub against a steel chain every down shift to save that additional maybe 5g is beyond my budget! Dura-Ace in lesser degree, but still FD cage made of alloy and cassette made out of ti vs steel cage and steel cassette Ultegra.... Zonda + Centaur or 105 wheels + 105 group seems like the best combo for training and everyday rides, Just my opinion.

Sorry, it is not available as a small part. Finding a donor front der is the only real solution..OR getting a metal front der. Like Chorus, Athena...As mentioned, the metal cage part IS available as a spare part.

I repaired a 10 speed Record FD a couple of years ago by liberal application of Gorilla Glue. I can’t remember the technique I used but it has held up well. Your other option is to scour eBay for a broken/cheap donor FD for a replacement cage.

Edit: I remember what I did now. It was broken around the area with the screw, so I slathered it with gorilla glue. Put the screw in to align it, then clamped it for 24 hrs.

A wild Idea but what if you pour a small flat epoxy resin block then file it down to what that part look like?

Thanks all for the information -- guess I'll keep my eye out for some donor der, or experiment with making something out of wire and epoxy.

FWIW, I haven't had any issues with wear on the carbon plate. Clear coat chips, sure, but the carbon seems structurally sound after several thousand miles of near daily use. A friend with SR put 15,000 miles on his group, and it was still going strong when he took it off to try eTap (other than cassette and chain wear), so I'm not worried about the carbon cage.

The epoxy worked for me. Also, you might want to try https://branfordbike.com/small-parts for that part. And, when I was searching I was told that Chorus parts may fit.

Epoxy also worked for me a few years back on Record 10 FD. When I upgraded to 11 speed I just used Athena FD & RD with Chorus shifters. That combination was pretty much bomb-proof.

binouye,

What did you end up doing? I'm now wearing the same shoes.

Thanks,

This piece?

This piece?

That's the one. Not a small part/sku..a donor front der or one with all metal cage. Even this one will work fine and dandy with 2008 and older 10s Campag 'UltraShift'.
2015+ Chorus.

There’s a gentleman, David Jacobs, who 3D prints the part which I think you’re looking for. You can find him in the “Campagnolo Tech Talk” group on Facebook.

He is in Australia but can ship from the UK, based on a recent post.

Hope this helps!

Yes, this helps. I'm waiting to hear back from Branford Bike (just to see if they have one laying around), but will keep this in mind. Thank you!
