This may be a dumb question, but besides ebay what sites are the best to find quality vintage Campy components? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Please don't call 80s-90s Campy vintage. You are making me feel old.:)

Agree, here on the forum is fantastic.

Also here:

I loathe eBay process as well as the bs PayPal thing. Would rather wait and wait for better product here, I prefer working with reputable forum member.

A WTB ad in the Paceline forums would probably produce a load of options for you.

Also, the vintage section of bikeforums.net might be another good spot to look. There's likely to be quite a few members from the Steel is Real Facebook group, Paceline, and bikeforums.net that are members of all 3.

What are you working on? I love that era of Campy and Campy-equipped bikes.

Tex,

I was lucky enough to pick up an '85 Trek 770 and I'm toying with the idea of either bringing it back to '85 SR or possibly early 90's Campy - although that will cause me to stretch the rear triangle and I'm not real keen on doing that.

Nice! Congrats on the project. At least everything that you'll need for it is easy to find.

And many--not sure how current: http://www.velo-retro.com/links.html

There's also all those boxes in my attic ... How about a lightly used Rally rear derailleur?

Charles at Wright Bros has great stock of Campy parts and components as well as some other interesting 80's era components from Zeus, Shimano, Suntour and Mavic. He's also a great resource for info on what's compatible etc.

Worth the call!

Yeah, I was very lucky to have found it, plus to find one where the owner was willing to sell it. The stars aligned for me.

And thank you for letting me know about - Wright Bros. I may reach out to them today about components.

A few items from my browser bookmarks which I haven't seen mentioned. Caveat: My newest bike is early 80s, so you're not likely to find a lot newer than that at these vendors...

Sweet! That's on my bucket list one if these days. A buddy of mine who worked at a shop a long time ago, got that exact bike new and it was THE bike to have at that time. I was just a kid and ogled it frequently.

Trek made a fantastic steel bike back in those days. I had a 560 that saw a lot of races, served me well.

I just saw this site. There is a lot of good information on the site. Thanks!

Congrats on your find! That was the top of the line for Trek in 1985. Super Record parts would look great on that, and if you do spread out the rear triangle you could use a modern Athena Silver 10 speed groupset.

Lots of great advice has already been given on this thread, but your best bet might be to list the parts you need in the Classified section here with WTB to start the heading.

Post photos once you are done, and good luck with your project! www.vintage-trek.com

Much like you, I wanted a 770. Back in ‘88, I walked into a shop and saw both the 760 (Beaujolais and yellow) and a pink 770. I drooled over the 770 but I had a newborn so I bought the 760. Finding one now, is a dream come true.

I kinda remember the 760. Was that one spec'd with Superbe Pro at the time? Kind of a purplish frame, or was it maroon?
