A friend posted this--looks very interesting.

It would use sections of trail already existing and in use, and work on routing across the sections where there are currently no trails.

Soon to be a electric bike freeway.
Coast to coast races at 40+ mph.

I'm certain.
It's time to get on some PSAs for electric bikes.

It'll never happen. There are too many places that bike trails are too impractical or expensive to build. Here in Mass., there are dozens of bike trails, and yet only a very few interconnect, because there is no practical way to connect them. Trying to interconnect enough trails to get all the way across the country will be essentially impossible. Even the grand-daddy of interstate trails, the 80 year old Appalachian Trail, still has many gaps where travelers have to use roads to get from trail to trail.

Good work takes time.

(Actually, I skimmed and missed that bit--OTOH, if they don't start now, it will be harder and take longer...)

Canada got their coast-to-coast trail done in 25 years. https://thegreattrail.ca

Florida is making a big push for what is called "eco tourism". The 255 mile trail from The Ga/Fl line to St Petersburg is mostly complete now. Just a few more places to fill in. Fl is easy riding for a loaded bike. Plenty of hotels/campgrounds, restaurants, and food stores along the way.

Coast to coast would be great. Especially for small towns it goes thru. As a group....cyclists are spenders.

The Great Trail is made of many sections, and many interconnections between these sections are actually on roadways (not separate trails).

There are many trails/routes of this sort, which are made up of an amalgam of independent trails that interconnected by roadways. Here in eastern Massachusetts, we have the Bay Circuit Trail, which is 200+ mile grand loop that connects the south shore with the north shore of the Mass. Bay. Only, it's not a single trail, it actually a bunch of pre-existing trails that have been marked with Bay Circuit Trail signs, and if you want to actually want to follow it the Bay Circuit Trail across many sections, you'll have to travel paved roadways to get from section to section.

The closest the Coast to Coast bike trail will ever get is to being a true trans-continental trail is to identify a bunch of bike trails that are kinda- sorta- near each other, and that can be used to travel to from coast to coast, if you're willing to travel a lot of open roads to get from one to the next.
