In 1992 I saw a dude in the car during a road race. This was the same dude who was talking smack before the race and I asked if he had checked his bike beforehand.
Too Tall - He was a Macalaster student.
Anyway, he was nominally a 'teammate' cuz I was buds with the owner of the local St. Paul shop and he wore the same jersey. His Ultegra pulley came off.
Like I said, he was sitting in the car at about the 65 mile mark handing out drinks.
Carbon pulleys will not win you a race, but they might lose you a race.
So there.

When i start "optimizing" my derailleur pulleys,
I know i've hit rock bottom, and it's time to get a life.
