Sure comes across as pretty bitter.

But so often ex pros say somewhat similar things, so my questions are...

What are the specifics? What exactly was “stolen”? Who offered drugs, took drugs? How do you define corrupt and what are the examples?

Just seems if things were/are this bad, more people would speak up and do so with credible examples.

Otherwise comes across as sour grapes.

He lives in my town now, and we ride together from time to time, hes alright. hes pretty much just like he is in this article, sort of direct and no nonsense, but he does like to tell the old stories!

He was always a character. He came to ride the local club race in Madison when I lived in Wisconsin, he almost took me out when he dropped a water bottle.

Who is the guy next to George? Looks like Tom Ritchey (but not) or a movie star. Good looking front line. Oh, and don't forget John Howard who raced often with Mount and one of the earliest Americans in Europe as well. When racers who took first place won a turkey or a pair of tires.

Yep, also won a dozen or so stages and the points jersey at the Giro at least once in his career, plus a couple stages at the Tour as a neo-pro. Sprint champ.

Interesting, and some cool stories. Straight talker for sure. He misunderstood the first question but addressed little later on in the interview. He does sound like a character. Am thinking the "schmuck from Eastern Europe" has got to be Eddie B?

That's the funniest part

"PEZ: How did you get into cycling, George – it was a minority sport in the US in the early 70’s, wasn’t it?
George Mount: No, as now, there were almost no minorities bicycle racing in the US at the time. It was pretty much the white trustafarian sport it is today."
