Its been a couple decades since i purchased a mountain bike. I am 6'3.5". The online guides say its too small. What do you all say? If it matters, I am looking at a hardtail 29er and i doubt i will be doing anything serious.

I'm guessing the bike you are looking at is a Trek, since it is inch and a half sizing. This bike is almost certainly too small for you at 6'4". I'm 6'0" and I ride 19.5" Treks and sometimes wish for a longer reach. Not even sure you could get the seatpost to extend far enough for you saddle height. A 21.5 would be better.

Sorry, but keep looking. You want a frame reach somewhere north of 460-470mm depending on your limb/torso proportions.

Thank you! I had a feeling it would be too small. You are correct, it was a Trek Procaliber.

Nice XC hardtail! See if you can find a 21.5.

I'm 5'8 and can ride the 17.5 and 18.5" Trek Procaliber. Mine is the 18.5" and the only difference between it and the 17.5 is the stack height is sightly higher. The Procaliber is an awesome Hardtail. I really liked my Superfly as well!
