You never see a squirrel leaving its nest
Or ever a squirrel taking a rest
By nature a squirrel is always SO busy
If they can't find a nut they get in a tizzy

Chasing around until they're successful
Then they sit on your porch rail with a big mouthful
Spinning the nut between their front feet
Spitting out shells and swallowing nut meat

They are storing up energy for their next frantic chase
With neighborhood squirrels up the trees to a high place
Then reversing direction and leaping through thin air
You'd think they would fall but they catch on by a hair

Back down to the grass where rest is forbidden
There's more nuts to find that somewhere are hidden

20. Squirrels are quite susceptible to .22 rimfire or #6 bird shot. They fry up nice and tasty too. (Bit difficult to skin though.)

Squirrels can also be dispatched with an accurate pellet gun and are pretty tasty in a stew.

Which is why they are the namesake of erratic members of a pace line. Hahaha!

Squirrels and bacon are a great combination especially after spending some time together on the grill or in the oven.

Mr. Squirrel looks small from far away, but when you get a close look it's amazing how dangerous he seems. Long claws, sharp buck teeth, and he's shredded like a UFC fighter. If you shoot him, make sure he's dead before you put a hand out or else you're gonna be wrestling with an injured homicidal lunatic.

Squirrels can also be dispatched with the spokes of a bicycle wheel. Ask me how I know.

My pellet gun has allowed me to develop a great scout/sniper relationship with the redtail hawk that visits my yard a few times a day as no squirrel goes to waste.

This whole thread makes me sad. We had several pet squirrels that hung out with us when we lived in PA. On was even pretty good at playing ball with us. I can't believe anyone would eat them!!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

So I just got an email for a new brewery opening in my general neighborhood, and I immediately thought "they're trying to lure us in, get us drunk, and take us out." The name and the mango lassi flavored beers seemed like big tip offs...

My back yard is full of squirrels. I hope they accept me in their habitat. They were there first. They don’t bother me and I don’t bother them. We are at peace.

Possums, are actually a massive friend to people and pets, they eat thousands of ticks a week. Having few in your back yard is better than pesticides. Squirrels, bunnies and the like are heaven for your red tailed hawk.

Ran over a squirrel once on my bike. Flattened it with the front wheel then it hopped up and ran away before my rear wheel got to it.

my nuts to me are a thing of joy,
more than just an expensive toy.
i carry them here, and there, and back,
on a road, a lane or cycle track.
i cary my nuts and whizz along,
my heart soars with a joyous song.
cares pass me by, my mind is clear,
i take my nuts where I choose to steer.
moving as one in the fresh open air,
a physical exercise without compare.
nuts keep me healthy, happy and fit,
perfect reasons for doing it.
so nuts to me is a wonderful thing,
in summer, autumn, winter and spring.
the hills may be hard with the wind in my face
but nuts are something that you can never replace…except wheels. nut nut nuk!
