FRAMESET SOLD - REMAINING PARTS WILL BE POSTED SHORTLY

---------------------------

Argh, I thought I'd made all the mistakes I needed to make. Guess I had a bout of amnesia when surveying the geometry table on this one prior to buying it.. Shame too. It's a great looking frameset, and I sourced a really pretty and functional build kit for it. And my ten-min ride on it confirmed the ride is nice and mellow, but not overly soft...which is just what I wanted.

---------------------------

Tournesol Rando

ST: 62 cm c-c, 64 cm c-t
TT: 59 cm c-c [note the slack STA]
STA: 71.5
HTA: 72.5
HT: 20.6 cm end-to-end
CS: 44 cm
Front-Center: 61.5 cm

Bilam construction by Mr. Tweedy in the mid-'00s. Likely 8-5-8 TruTemper tubing, but don't know for sure (see BT's original listing (https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=213561&highlight=tournesol) for more details). Potentially painted by Weigle. Some shop/transit wear to the frame, but minor stuff. Pics show it with 700x33.3 Jack Brown tires on 23mm Pacenti rims. That gives a good idea for clearances. 130mm rear spacing. 68mm threaded BB of course. 27.2 post. 28.6 FD. 1" headtube. Built for the included Paul Racers (narrow). Sachs dropouts.

Here's the build I put together:

Wheelset - Pacenti Brevet v2 23mm rims, WI T11 Rear, SON Wide Body 28 Front, Sapim Lasers, handbuilt (New)
Tires - Riv Jack Brown Green Label 33.3 (New)
Skewers - Salsa Ti Silver (GC)
Headset - Chris King, no-logo cups (VGC)
Hanger - Paul Funky Monkey (VGC)
Stem - Nitto UI-86 EX 110mm stem (New)
Bars - Nitto Noodle 177 Heat-Treated 41cm (Like New)
Post - Nitto S83 (Like New)
Bar Plugs - Nitto Silver (New)
Brakes - Paul Racer Narrow w Kool Stop Salmon (New)
Levers - Shimano RX100 w logos removed (GC)
Tape - Fizik Soft Touch
Shifters - Sun XCD 10spd w option for DA-10 (New)
RD - Sun XCD Long (New)
FD - Sun XCD (New)
Chain - KMC 10.93 (New)
Cassette - XT 11-32 (New)
Crankset - Sun XCD w 44x28 rings (Like New)
BB - Velo Orange (Like New)
Cages - Nitto R (New)

Also included: mini rack (needs some minor tweaking to sit straight), SON Edelux II light w mount (used but functional, may need wiring to fit depending on lamp location), and Zimbale front bag (green w brown leather, some storage wear).

Optional: Berthoud GB-2599 bag (New) and Berthoud decaleurs for Nitto stem (New). The bag height is perfect for where the bars are right now.

Not included: Berthoud Aspin saddle, DA pedals.

Complete bike offered at $3000 as described above, net to me.

Trades considered for a larger version of the same or similar.

Will leave listed here for a few days before casting a wider net.

Thanks all - the collective feedback of the rando cognoscenti on PL is high praise indeed..

A few more notes on fit for the general public - I think it's smaller than it looks. We're not all used to looking at level top-tubes these days and that can make a frame look bigger than it is. I do think the built pics should help with sizing for most though - and hopefully land this in the right hands finally. The saddle height in the pics is 82cm. The stem is -17 deg, so obviously there is opportunity for the bars to come up significantly with a different stem choice. That's all just my $0.03 - and fit is subjective, so do your own figuring at your own risk. If I'd paid more attention to the geo sheet, well...nevermind.

And that 71.5 degree seat tube angle takes a good length out of the top tube at this large size, making the reach fairly small if you do put the saddle in your "normal" position relative to the bottom bracket.

So much for the new year's resolution!

Seriously, this is a lovely build. As so many others have said, I'm either relieved or annoyed that your bikes are nowhere near my size.

I'd put a straight post on it and it effectively fits like a 57-57.5 top tube frame if that frame had a 73° STA with a setback post.

This is an incredible build.

Exactly. I'm more than happy to set the seat-height and set-back where you need it and take some measurements from there. Also happy to hunt whatever length/rise Nitto stem you need to make it perfect.

Putting it up elsewhere on the internet tomorrow...

Should also note that I'm willing to sell in whatever configuration works... Frameset w brakes to complete, and anywhere in between.

Such a nice color! Clean, that slack STA kills me, otherwise, I'd be selling something and assembling some pennies. GLWS!

There's a nice home for this out there.

Alrighty folks, sharpened my calculator - any takers at $2850 complete, shipped, and remembering that includes the bag, rack, and Edelux light?

It's a Schmidt SON wide-body 28 hub - best there is... If you don't want the tires, back out $60 and go snag some Compass ones.

Add this NOS Berthoud 2599 and the Berthoud decaleurs for the Nitto stem for an extra $250!

Notice the color of the bag matches the decals...

Next level.

Make offer - I need to move on from this...

The season is coming and I either need to buy a new frame to hang the parts on or get something new altogether.

It's so close to my size...touch too long in top tube I think.

Not to mention sending kid to college next year to budget is totally blown up!

I need to stop looking at this....

I need to stop looking at this....TT is deceptively long. To me it's more like a 57cm TT on more normal angles. And it also probably works best w a 100-110cm stem, so really it's best for someone with longer legs and shorter reach or taller stack needs.

But I understand the financial constraints.

Trades would also be considered.
