Im sure this has been beaten to death, but I cant find an answer on the forum; then theres SO much conflicting info on google.

It seems like campy recommends the blue, removable loctite, but wouldnt this lack of grease/antiseize cause the bottom bracket to seize in the frame?

Plz halp

Loctite actually helps to prevent seizing. I've owned a number of Italian frames and never used anything but grease and the proper torque to hold a BB cup in place. Never had a problem.

Installing with blue loctite and only hand tightening seem kind of odd. If loctite is used, I'd still put some torque on it. The threads need to be cleaned well, or loctite won't work as it's supposed to.

So youre saying to use grease or loctite?

Don't all UT cups come with threads pre-coated with thread locker? Grease on the inside and thread locker on the threads.

Yes. You can't use both. Loctite requie both threads to be clean, to work. If you have the new cups with thread locker on them, just use grease.

Yes they do have that on the threads. So are they supposed to just thread into a bone-dry bb shell just like that? Even the italian drive side?

Threads clean and dry. If you want the pre-installed thread locker to do anything do not grease the threads.

I have always used grease, never had a problem. I will not use loctite unless needed. Just use grease, torque to spec, do the same with the cranks and you will be good to go.

All in my home is far superior IT threading and I use teflon tape, which you have to put in the right direction or it will bulge big time, and grease in the BB side. And tight the driver side cup as a madman.

Done.

What they said. Loctite and all thread locking compounds ARE anti seize.

Grease and STAR torque (apply torque until you see stars). I've always been able to get them out too.
