No connection - just think the pricing is interesting between 105 ($1153) vs Centaur ($1468) available all the way to Record components, they also have a Disc version. The frameset looks pretty nice for $733.

Nice looking, too bad they couldn't take a pic of the bike with 'proper' components..all of the offering's pix with 105 on it..

this is a tough one, the price being slighly higher I hate to say it but unless you want the thumb buttons and the superior ergonomics of campy (imo of course), it is hard to justify the price increase. You could take that money and buy yourself a good saddle and even some decent wheels.

Centaur needs to be almost the same as 105. $1200, maybe $1250 and I think people would consider it over 105 on that specific bike.

They don’t say specifically but I assume it’s 725 steel. I wonder how that compares, ride quality and weight, to 853?

It’s good to see a resurgence in steel but IMO an off the shelf steel frame has a hard time competing against a used boutique frameset. $700 can get you a pretty nice used Tommasini. In general, I’m a used bike guy though.

On Merlin Bike..105 is $436...Centaur is.......$436..undoubtedly ribble got better pricing on 105 than Campag...

MSRP of Centaur is $589 vs R7000 $627...doh!!

Also interesting, they only have Tiagra and 105 versions, no Ultegra, but then go to Campy options, lots of them.. For the $$ you get the Khamsin wheels, which I have no idea about, but HAVE to be better than Mavic Aksiums..

I meant on the bike the OP posted, 105 is 1150 and centaur is 1450. But good to know they are the same price at merlin.

I guess you do get different wheels.

Go to the custom build section. Ultegra is there.

I dunno Khamsin are pretty comparable to Aksiums, they are Campy however

i wonder if this is any signal that ribble will have access to campy stuff again?

they have pretty much zero campy for sale anymore after being the offshore powerhouse for years.

maybe they're back in "negotiations"?

I have both 725 and 853 frames (from Co-Motion), and surprised to say I actually prefer riding the 725 a bit more, especially the longer distance rides. Hard to compare specifically down to the tubing alone. Nevertheless, the impression is formed, and if doing another steel bike build (like, say, a Mercian), I would actually favor the 725. Very nice stuff.
