Need to have it with me. How do you carry yours? i've got a small iphone SE.

I was thinking a bubble wrap envelope. Have a small one that is just the plastic, no paper. One of my cameras lenses came wrapped in it. Just slip it into my rear jersey pocket.

Maybe a smallish bag on the bike? Any ideas? I usually have a wrapped tube, levers, a tool, etc. under my seat. Maybe something small hanging off the front of top tube? Hmm, think my frame pump might nix that.

Ok. thanks for sharing any experience with this...

I have an SE also.
Otterbox (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z7SSGQA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and Screen Protector (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017XHGP4C/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and just put it in my back jersey pocket.
And I carry a small plastic baggie in my in saddle bag in case it rains.

Ziplock in your jersey pocket. You really don't need more protection that you would regularly have.

I've been doing this for YEARS and it's perfect. Keeps the phone dry, your case protects it, and you can use the touchscreen through the bag a lot of the time.

I also use a zip lock bag and have been caught out in some really nasty rain.

This, and I wrap it once with wide rubberband. I think the rubberband kindda give it more grip thus less chance of jumping out of pocket on a bumpy road.

Isn't the SE water resistant?

I've been sticking my iPhone in my jersey pocket without any cover or case for years (even before they were made water resistant); no problems at all, even in the rain.

Otterbox.

Because you will drop it or accidentally something stupid to it at one point when you're 160km from home

Ziplock snack size works really well. If you want to mount it on your handlebar I really like the Quadlock case/mount.

Samsung Galaxy S4 and S6 with a screen protectors and thin clear cases. I have put them in jersey pockets, screen facing out, for years with no problems. Never saw the need for a plastic bag or any sort of full protective case. I don't ride in the rain. But if I did, a rain jacket would cover the jersey pocket and the phone. Maybe I don't generate the volume of perspiration that others do? Why is some form of additonal protection used?

Ok. Thanks to all of you. Will just go with thin, inexpensive zip lock bag. I sweat a lot so i prefer the added protection. I do have a tech 21 case on the SE with glass cover that apple installed for me. The zip lock just for moisture. Maybe pop a thick rubber band around it, as suggested, to help keep it from sliding out of my pocket.

I've been using a Pactimo (https://www.pactimo.com/collections/mens-cycling-accessories/products/cycling-carryall-pocket-bag) carryall lately. Lightweight and water resistant but not completely waterproof according to the ad copy. Holds my iPhone SE, some money, tire boot and patches. Costs more than a zip lock bag but easier to deal with IMO.

Why is some form of additonal protection used?I've actually sweat through a Rapha essentials case before, and drenched the underlying phone. it's hot and humid in Ohio in the summer. that was the leather version though; I've moved onto the rainproof one and have had no issues so far.

ziploc works fine though. I just like keeping my house (or car) key in there too. and with the essentials case, the key goes in a separate side pocket where it won't scratch my phone.

Mine lives in a LifeProof case all the time. Waterproof, so it works in the kayak as well, and has saved the phone from droppage damage on more than one occasion.

rarely carry a phone...

but when I do, use a very heavy-duty ziplock bag that a CO2 inflator came packaged in...perfect size and was free.

before that, just used a regular ziplock sammie bag.

absolutely no reason to purchase something fancy for this job...

Though I probably shouldn't do it this way, I have an original Google Pixel with a simple Tech 21 case. I just drop it in my jersey pocket like that. I did have to dry out a previous phone when I got completely drenched during a downpour, but other than that, I've been lucky. You would think I'd have learned my lesson, but if you think that, you don't know me. ;)

Ditto this. When in a jersey pocket, the only additional threat to the phone is from moisture (either the rider's sweat, or rainfall). I've carried cellphones, wallets, keys, and other small objects in my jersey pockets, and never had anything fall out, or get damaged just because it was in a pocket.

While I agree that a plastic bag (or nothing at all most of the time) will suffice, I've switched to a Silca Borsa Americano. I keep miscellaneous ID, cash, ferry pass, some universal tools like valve core remover, 3,4,5 hex wrenches etc. and then put my phone inside as well. Still has room for a car key, house key, co2 inflator, tubeless repair kit etc.

Since I switch among many bikes this system ensures that I'm not leaving home without some basic essentials. Everything fits in one jersey pocket.

I used to use plastic bags. Now I use this:

I used a Ziplock bag, but got a Loksak at a bike touring directors conference. You can use the buttons while it is waterproof.

Not sure the type of phone you're carrying, but Bellroy makes some great phone/wallets, treated leather, right size to fit into a jersey pocket, and great craftsmanship.
