As far as loud obnoxious paint jobs go, I say it's pretty good. Agree about the wheel logos though, maybe a bit too much.

What I hope to hear in the future from a worlds winner is, "I am a member of this team. I will ride the same bike as rest of the team." A man can dream.

Paint on the front end looks awful. One could do better with a spray can....

If you cant do a fade, keep it simple:

what a good transition on a fade should looks like (my bike):

Probably 'available' from the Canyon website for the next 2 years with a 'coming soon' logo instead of an order button. Is Canyon actually in the bicycle business because they are pretty poor at actually being able to sell a bike. Agreed on the fade scheme, poorly executed.

Wow, I mean really wow!!! That is a awesome looking bike. Judging by the earlier remarks here certainly not everyones cup of tea but that bike is sending a message loud and clear. If you don't like attention then you simply don't ride a bike like that but hey were talking about a race bike that was made to win in more ways than one. So with that being said is this bike with all it's colors available for public consumption?

My hot takes:

-Valverde is a legend, one of the most complete cyclists in the recent history of the sport. As Boonen said: "Best cyclist of this generation"
-Yeah, yeah, the doping was 12 years ago, get over it. Different Era.
-It's a damn nice bike as far as pro tour carbon bikes go.
-The paint fades on the bike and rainbow decals on that Campagnolo are tacky and cheap looking. That styling is older than Valverde!

Gilbert's bike is nicer except for finishing it with a saddle my grandma would use.

Lastly, it's going to be a treat watching him race Flanders in the rainbow jersey!

The fade's awesome, the bike is fire. And he's a complicated dude.

That's about all we can say here. Anyone who thinks pro cycling is now, has ever been or will ever be a pure sport is delusional. When we watch it we choose to accept the seedy underbelly. Same as any other professional sport or "amateur" sport at a high level.

Want to watch more pure sport? Go watch a local grade school basketball game. Then the parents get involved. It goes downhill from there.

I never said there is not doping going on these days, I said he was sanctioned for something that happened 12 years ago.... get over it. But the prevalent idea especially amongst anglo media is that Valverde is the pantomime villain, the lone bad apple of the peloton because he had a doping violation while everyone else is 'clean' and that he had no right to return

If he's allowed to race, then he's allowed to win, and I doubt he's doing any different than anyone else.

To which David Bryne would say: "Same as it ever was."

The rub with Valverde is he won at a high level before his sanction, and if anything has continued to win at a high level after the sanction. There was no drop off in performance. Is that attributable to a better doping regimen or just being an otherworldly talent?

I can't answer that. But he's passed every test since his suspension and continued to just wreck fools in hilly one day races.

He hasn't apologized or shown contrition or any of those things, but they're also not required after having done the time, so to speak.

Woods or Bardet would have been an easier winner for the sport, but tough to argue he wasn't deserving on results.

You should have to have a frame plate listing your TUE's

The crank and wheels gave me a flashback to the '70s, and that's not good

I think part of the problem is that he never ever admitted that he doped. Look, I actually like the guy and think that he is an amazing complete rider, something that is very rare these days. He animates races and creates entertainment. This is good because pro cycling is an entertainment business. Doping is here and it is not going away ever. Business 1st, morality.........somewhere further down the list. I do not condone doping and have seen it 1st hand in the sport/business of cycling. However, the only honest way to see the 'sport' is as entertainment and not a reality.

OTOH, not a fan of the fade and sharp color bands on the same bike. Looks like one person had design rights on the front end and a different person on the back end. I like the sharper, crisper approach to graphics. (And I do think the fades aren't all that well designed even for fades).

Since I don't ride this frame, and I'll likely never see it on a group ride so somewhat indifferent.

But I am a fan of Campagnolo grouppos and wheels!

all these dudes are sliding more and more forward to get that pelvic tilt and max-aero torso position. lookit hanseeno's bike...rotating that far forward on a production bike requires unusual accommodations and serious commitment!

I agree, I think this looks better than just about everything rainbow-striped posted thus far.

Little stuff like the finishing tape and under-pedal striping comes across much better without that headtube/fork fade situation.
