It looks like I have to work overnights Saturday night - Sunday morning the weekend of several races I planned to ride next spring. So, how stupid is it to show up at the races with no sleep and try to ride? No intention of competing, mind you, just a good hard effort and sleaze up points toward my "show up for 10 races and get a gold star" upgrade.
A guy at work claims that you can sign up, pay your $$, not even show up at the start and your DNF goes toward upgrade. ***? First, why would you do that? Second, don't they have systems in place so you actually have to start the race or sign in or something? I vaguely remember signing papers at the event but I thought I was just signing a release but now that I think about it you'd think they'd use that as a control.
