My brother's place has a long, dark driveway and he'd like to get it lit up when a car comes in at night. Instead of getting it hardwired, he's considering a series of large solar LED lights.

Anyone using these? Recommendations? Concerns? Etc?

I don't know how he is planning to mount the lights, and at what height, but I've used the inexpensive Sunforce 3 head LED solar lights from Costco for years without issue, both in Phoenix and Ann Arbor. $30 on sale, use rechargeable AA batteries that I've never replaced, The ones I have are 1500 lumens. We use them as aux lighting in our small town home community in Phoenix, as well. They perform better that the more expensive 6volt solar lights we had before.

Probably metal poles, 10 feet tall I believe. Maybe 4 or 5 of them.

I am familiar with the Sunforce lights and they are great to mount to the house for extra security.

I just bought 4 of these. They work as intended...so far.

Those look interesting. Question: is the light they generate a bright, white, security type light? Or is it a pleasant light that you're glad is part of the landscape?

they have 3 settings.
1. when dark, turns on when motion triggers it and stays on bright until the battery runs out.
2. when dark, stays on dimly until motion triggers it to bright, and then stays on for 15 seconds in bright.
3. when dark, is off until motion triggers it to bright, and then stays on for 15 seconds in bright.

Bright is fairly bright but still a bit subdued.

If you want to sell or trade that guy, let me know!I'll check the local Costco next week and see if they have any left. I'm keeping my spare, just like the drawer full of 10s Campy spares ;)

Amazon has them, for more $$$
