View Full Version : Best brake cable housing/cables?

My current tri bike has the usual tight bends of cable routing for integrated bars etc, creating a much less than smooth rear brake action.

What is currently the best housing on the market to resist compression and do well through tight bends??
Thx!

Sometimes you have to get creative and sometimes you have to lower your expectations. It's a tri bike

Try pads and fresh housing/cables. Not the cheap stuff

Maybe something like those aligator links or i links or whatever it is called.

I have a tight bend on my English for the rear brake and have some if that stuff and works really damn well.

Years ago, I would have said to get Gore Ride On cables. Wonderful product. But like their Teflon grease, it is off the market.

Jagwire's compressionless works really well.

Jagwire's compressionless works really well.

This (if you can get it to make the required bends without looking fugly).

The jagwire elite link stuff works really well too.

I've got a CAAD10 with the really annoying 'I'm going to route your rear brake right through the middle of your headtube' routing and the link stuff works great.

I used to go through the standard cable housing on that brake link once a month (would bend at the joint where it enters the headtube and pinch cable inside).

since swapping over, haven't had an issue period.

The jagwire elite stuff has worked really well for everyone I know that has used it.

Think outside the box bruh.
IIRC even small amounts of exposed housing build up to seconds on a 40k TT.
No cables = no time loss.

Yeah, the Automatix hub is discontinued but I probably have 10 sitting around somewhere. Happy to trade 1 for an 8000 or 9000 165mm crankset.
