I am trying to get an idea of how far you would travel to see NAHBS in your general area. We have 3 locations that are serious contenders.

Fitchburg, MA
Pittsburgh, PA
Providence, RI

i am basing my decision on several factors, mainly the ease of getting to the show, so let me know your opinions!

Either Fitchburg or Providence would be great. Really, really great.

Providence offers air service. It is an easy drive from Boston and not unreasonable from NYC.

Thanks for considering the east coast Don, especially the northeast. For me in NE PA, I'm about smack in the middle between Pitt and New England. I look forward to attending.

I trust your dates will be in the warmer weather so as comfy riding will be an option?

PVD. Cheap flights. Easy access and travel. Nice!

OldDog, March in New England is a great time to ride. Just be sure to bring your fenders!

Any chance of considering something south of Pennsylvania?

I know Atlanta can be expensive, but it's definitely easy to get to by air or car. I'd fly to Virginia, DC, Florida without a thought and drive to NC, Tenn or SC. Nashville might be a good location.

I'm not an exhibitor, just a specator though - although would probably make a purchase/order at the show.

I don't know of any builders in the Southeast, so I think it would be a good market to display in. West Coast, NE, and Northern Midwest all have builders local to customer base.

Providence, but I'm biased as a native to the state. I can't speak at all about Pittsburg, but I got Providence over Fitchburg by alot.

What's a matter Rabbit, didn't your mama teach you how to chug?

Providence would be more appealing than Fitchburg.

Boston or Providence, I don't think Fitchburg would be attractive to many.

The thing is, if we went down south, we dont know that the consumer base would do any good for the exhibitors. Its best in an area with a cycling rich tradition.
Boston is out due to having no available venues for our time slot, same with Philly, Baltimore, DC and Allentown.
NYC is just way too pricey for venues.

Remember, we are trying to keep this affordable for the builders.

Providence would be a great choice!

Of the three available choices I voted for Providence. If you are looking for something more in the Mid-Atlantic region, may I suggest Wilmington, DE? University town, just south of Philly and within couple hours from DC (less from BWI), this might bring some more folks in from the south, but you may lose just as many from northern NE. Just a thought.

What about Hartford? Same benefits of a major airport, and similar proximity to NY & Boston as Providence. (I voted Providence)

Provi +1.

Cheap flights, nice ATMOsphere. Plenty of design students that would be interested in the show as well.

I voted for Fitchburg, being Commonwealthcentric. But Providence is A-OK with me, so flip-flop my vote, atmo.

Due to it's more centralized location and, likely lower cost accomodations I believe Pittsburgh will bring in more traffic. I would make the trek there but, not to Providence or Fitchburg.

say what you will about cities run by the mafia; but at least you can always find a good booby bar and a better veal parmesan sandwich....often in the exact same place.

i vote for providence; although pittsburgh is actually an awesome city; just too far to warrant a drive to see a bunch of hurting bicycle junk . the missus and i went there a few years back for a wedding and i was expecting something like east st. louis with a river on fire; but it was really quite wonderful and yuengling is the best shi'ite ball beer this side of jupiler.
