I bought this crank:

And it has a greyish anodization or similar coating. I want a crank for a bike that's all 7700 and silversilverSILVER, and I wonder, is there another model of crank that's identical except silver?

The alternative, I guess, would be to EZ-Off the anodization and polish it, but I groan at the thought of a project like that right now. If that's the only option I'll probably try it, but if I can throw some money at the problem that'd sure be easier... as long as it's not an awful lot of money.

R700 matches perfectly

Pretty sure the arms of the R700 are the same as the CX50 crankset he has, and also have a similar grey anodizing on the rings.

Perfect! See? I *KNEW* someone would know.

(By the way, did I buy those cranks from you?)

Thank you, I will do a little shopping. I've got the rings I want, so that doesn't matter -- the arms are the vital part.

If you already have rings, maybe Sugino XD2 compact crank arms?

Use some Easy Off to remove the anodizing, then buff the arms and spray with Clear and you should be good to go

Actually no. If you'd taken a look, you'd see the arms have the same polish as a 6500/7700/6600 group and a completely different hollow arm shape. I have 3 I run with those groups because they match. The CX50 has a unpolished matte anno. As for the rings, polished Shimano compacts rings don't really exist. Strip the anno on the big ring and polish it yourself. It's what I did on the R700 crank on my Superprodigy. Or try TA rings.

R700 doesn't match perfectly...it is silver but lacks 7700's higher polish finish. It's more of a match for 6500.

I did look before I posted, and the R700 has the exact finish of the CX50 arms that I sold the OP. Go figure!

R700 (I've owned a couple) have a polished finish, as do Ultegra 6650 (as long as you avoid the ice grey model they did) and 105 5650. All compatible with a HT2 BB (which is presumably what you're after?)
