I can now repair Brooks Saddles!
Today, I had some extra time on my hands, so I turned my attention to the broken Brooks saddles I have. A while back, I had gotten two new rails and a handful of rivets from my supplier and got to work. I was going to fix 2 saddles. One that already had brass rivets and one with steel rivets. The brass rivets were more difficult to cut off and the steel were easy. Even though the brass would seem easy, even with a center punch, the drill bit wanted to walk around. With the steel rivet, the center was open by the factory splitting the rivet. Once they were off, the brass rivet was much easier to replace. It seems the shape of the leather was different and it made getting the rivets aligned into the holes very difficult. In fact, I need another rivet for the last hole.
