Philly Bike Expo ‘18

I had the unexpected opportunity to make it to the PBE on Saturday. Very nicely done, lots of exhibitors and interesting discussions to be had. My not-so-interested in cycling brother came with me, and came away impressed with the energy and cool stuff going on in cycling world! I hope a few other paceliners got to the show, and I want to congratulate Bilenky for putting it on, and all the presenters for making it a very enjoyable few hours. Plus.... I got to meet eRichie in meat space! That was just great.

Missed it both days due to nor easter

I went on Saturday. Consistent growth in the show over the last 3-4 years. Highlight for me was a very nice chat with JP Weigle, mostly on the subject of his travel bike. Amazing attention to detail and aesthetic. My eye was also immediately drawn to BiKyle's personal 'Day Is Done', lugged white with green panels (in my size...D'OH!), that was just there for display.

That's a Rinko bike. You might be able to sneak one on a plane without paying oversize fees, but probably not. Rinko is made to get a bike on a Japanese train, other applications might not work as well.

Peter rode that bike on some seriously chunky trails together with me and a bunch of other folks a couple weeks ago at the Nutmeg Nor'easter in Connecticut.

It made the whole discussion just that little bit more interesting. I brought along a Cinelli from 1947 and one of Fausto Coppi's personal helmets.
