OK, we can't agree on $70 dollar water bottle cages. Can we talk about the best $20 dollar cage? For me it is the almighty King stainless cage. I was just looking around the arundel page and found a cool plastic cage. Reminds me of the vintage specialized plastic cages from the way back. I had those on one of my first bikes and I remember liking them. Has anyone tried these plastic arundel cages?

What is your favorite $20 dollar cage? I am sure some straight from China/Taiwan options are available that we don't all know about. Do any good $20 dollar carbon cages exist?

Pics please :-)

Salsa nickless cage

For plastic the profile design black ones w rubber bands are very very secure. I use it on underside of my downtube.

with the buttons? I liked the stainless version of those but they would always break.

The plastic arundles are fair, thats it. They are by no means the mandibles, but that is obviously reflected in the price.

I broke one...a large bottle full of water is just too much on rough roads...stainless steel beats up my bottles, plastic Elites work for me and they're cheap online. Ciussi Elite Inox....$20 when I bought them 15 yrs ago.....they have not broken

Ultimately my go to when no other cage holds as needed. Sure any metal cage can be bent (both SS King and Arundel require this periodically), but I have NEVER ejected a bottle from one of these Specialized cages. Never broken one either, have broken both SS King and Arundel. Granted they are not the most aesthetically pleasing, hence SS King on most of my bikes.

Are they still available? I hoarded a few black ones decades ago and all are still going strong.

IMO the planet alloy cages are excellent. great bottle retention and smooth getting bottles in and out.

they are not $20 however, they are $5.

i've been beating up a few sets for years, including a pair on my travel bike that TSA keeps trying to destroy.

No reason to buy anything but a stainless King Cage. Great looking, durable, hold the bottles better than anything else.

Cateye BC-100.

Kinda ugly, but dirt cheap, hold very well, and are super durable.

I use these, Kings, and old Catamount cages.

Specialized Rib cages just work. Have them on 4 or so bikes and never lost a bottle.

I've been using these inexpensive carbon cages on all my bikes for at least 5 years and they have been flawless and weigh about 19gms each.

About $10 each...

I just purchased 2 Colnago logo’d carbon cages out of China for less than $20.00 shipped. Took a lot less time to get here than I thought they would. Like under 10 days.

THey look great on my new C60! And far less than what I could purchase here.

King cages left black marks on my bottles, so I switched to Tacx Tao cages years ago. Been very happy with them but the bottom tabs seem to wear out, especially when using large bottles.
Takes judicious shopping to get them for $20 these days.

Delta Inox cages on amazon. The price hasclimbed from $11 to $15 over the last few years and the finish maybe isn’t as good as King, but they’re light, they work great, andi like the simple look on all my bikes.

I like the King cages -- Performance Bike makes (or markets, under their label), a similar stainless cage that's even less expensive (by a few bucks). I haven't seen these lately, but I still have some from some years back and they're fine -- simple looking, stable, easy to use, etc.

I also like the Tacx Tao pretty well, although maybe not all the parts are indestructible.

Yeah, I like the Tacx Tao cages (silver aluminum ones with black plastic parts), and have only broken the bottom stop on one in about 15 years. They used to cost about $12, I don't know what they go for now. I also have a couple great carbon cages I purchased off aliexpress direct from China, $22 shipped. They look fantastic, work well and are holding up well.

King "Iris" cage. Looks the best and holds like a vice.

No, no.
When you buy the bike ask for a couple of cages and bottles thrown in to make the deal. Free cages! And bottles!

Elite Tito or Cannondale GT40. Both actually hold a bottle over a bump. :)

For under $20 each it is hard to find better than King inox for metal and Elite Custom Race for plastic.

American Classic cages can still be found on eBay from time-to-time. Light as a feather and generally inexpensive to boot.

Blackburn Chicane, steel is real.

These are awful compared to the similarly-priced Kings (normal cage or Iris).

The Blackburn cages are likely good enough for road use but don't have enough grip for gravel or mountain riding.

I have a regular size one. It seems a little flimsy but it hasn’t broken in maybe 3000 miles, despite stretching the circumference a bit to fit a 1-liter squeeze bottle.

I sold the bike that they were on, so I never used them at all. But I do agree that they felt very flimsy.
