Paceliners,

I had quite a gash in my tubeless tire. Lost a bunch of sealant (what a mess!), but leak continued. It was slow enough that I could continue my day, just had to pump up a couple of times, all the while leaking. I stopped by a shop, bought a wee bottle, dumped it in. Leak continued until I got home and used a repair kit.

So, how do I tell how much to add/how much I lost?

If the tire is new or repaired, only about an ounce per tire should be sufficient.

Sounds like you had a pretty big gash in your tire. Surprised you made it back without too much issue. Now that you repaired it, an ounce should take care of any future small puctures.

Sealant in the tire is it just depends...it will dry out over time, then you add more or carry a small bottle with you.

Interesting. I guess the takeaway is not to worry too much -I have been carrying a bottle of sealant on rides.
