View Full Version : Any peg fit a 28?

All of these peg threads always make me wonder if any of Dario’s frame will fit a true 28? My carbon Basso runs 28s easily and is only limited by the caliper. But I contemplate going back to Italian steel.

I have read that Peg Falz fork fits a 28. If the fork fits, so should the rear end. Ergo, you should look for a Falzified Peg. My early Luigino fit a 28 also. 2004 Marcelo barely fit a 25.

My Responsorium with a trigon fork (currently trying to get a Falz, but that's another story) clears 25s with room to spare and looks like it would fit a 28 without issue.

In my experience, it’s the chainstays that limits tire size. Maybe the newer Pegs are different, not sure.

Anything that uses the D11/Falz should fit a 28, save the Big Leg Emma.

Caveat: Some early-edition Falz forks lack vertical clearance when used with pre-2015 Campy brakes. Newer ones are ok - I have a Falz with ‘14 SR calipers and there’s plenty of room for 30mm measured.

Are you certain?

Sorry.....

2005 Marcelo (Deda EOM 16.5)

Ran a test a few weeks ago with Conti GP4000S on Open Pro rims and it fit on the front in the Ouzo Pro fork - in the rear it was tight against the front derailleur band-on (might have to change to thinner carbon)

Same test with Vittoria Pavé 27mm fit without any issues

Is tight in the rear and I guess many people would see it as too tight - I might try and just get the frame repainted again;)

My Duende with a Falz has 28s on it. So nice.

Like many bikes, it depends on the individual frame. There seems to be a enough variation in the placement of the brake bridge that some will fit them and some won't. Eddy Merckx seem to be another bike where this often applies.

FWIW, my Responsorium will fit 28s...at least certain rim/tire combos....with the rear brake being the deciding factor rather than the chainstays.

If you find a bike with Dario's steel fork then you likely are good on the front, though I imagine there is individual variation there as well. As an example this is mine and while this tire is too close for comfort to ride it does spin without rubbing.

(currently trying to get a Falz, but that's another story)

According to their website, and then the sales team's return email, Bikyle is shipping Falz forks again. The one I ordered more than a month ago is supposedly shipping early next week ... although, it would have been nice of them to let me know.

Just got an email from the team today that they are shipping again. Murphy's Law right after I posted about it.

Another data point... my 2008 era Peg Duende fits Vittoria Pave 27 clinchers on Hed Belgium rims easily.

Challenge Paris Roubaix (they say 27 mm on the sidewall, but measure 29.5 or so) on the same rims won't quite make it.

The variance is striking. My early Respo only fits 23s due to chainstays. Luckily, ride is sweet even so. Maybe the ultimate YMMV situation. ;)

When I got my 2014 Mxxxxxo from @Hilltopperny it had Compass Chinook Pass 28c mounted on Dura Ace wheels, if that helps. I have no idea what the width was, but the bike did roll lol.

I had a Falz V1 on a bike and it does not fit a 28. Eventhough it barely fit a Conti GP 4000 25, the Campy brake rubbed. There was a comparison between the V1 and V2 on V Salon some time ago over this subject and there is a significant difference in clearances.

This is accurate. I also had a V1 that was very tight. I think clearance is the major resaon the V2 was designed. So the V2 definitely has more clearance, but the seat and chain stay bridges might still be an issue, in the back.

Ran 27mm Pave on my Marcelo. ENVE 2.0 fork. Campy calipers

I’ve run 28s under chorus calipers on my old Responsorium and under dura ace calipers on my old Mxxxxxo. Never measured the actual width of the tires.

The Mxxxxxo was a falz v2. Not sure if the Respo was a v1 or v2.
