Has anyone ever done a custom sock order?
Not sublimated.

Who did you work with? What was the MOQ? What was the turn-around time? Happy? Disappointements? Things you wish you knew at the outset?

Things I dig:
Handlebar Moustache: Their colors are awesome. The height is good.
Swiftwick: The compression is spot on. They're durable.
Smartwool: I loved these socks. I use to buy 14 pairs at a time. Putting a new pair of them on is nirvana.

Things I don't dig.
Handlebar Moustache: They compression sucks.
Swiftwick: Colors are Meh.
Smartwool: they don't last as long as they used to.

Things I prefer:
Loom is located in the US.
MOQ: < 500 all in (that is 500 for all the sizes not 500 per size)
Wool (Yeah I know that limits color).

No offense,

Never done it but Defeet would be my go-to. Good people, MUSA, many years of experience.

You're out of your effing element, Donny.

Offer up something useful or sit on your hands.

The family of someone on the forum is in the sock-making business.

Unfortunately, I can't remember who it is.

I think all problems on this forum are first world problems, that seemed unnecessary.

You should ask some bike shops if they've done it, a local shop in the bay had custom socks, I'd ask them but they went out of business. Maybe the socks were too expensive!

Thanks ya'll.
Super helpful.

I'm not familiar with SOS so I'll grab a pair and check them out -- its cool to support friends of friends.

FWIW
I don't have First World Problems and I certainly don't have champaign problems. I have prosecco problems. They're big, weighty, from Trader Joe's and really should be espumante.

Further, it's not a prosecco problem when you're working on something that is looking to channel funds toward NPs like Planned Parenthood, SLPC, LA-LGBT, or whatever else.

Our team did an order with DeFeet last year. It was super easy - good communication and they delivered when promised.

If they did a 5" plain white sock I'd buy a mountain of them. I regularly seek out companies that use them for their sock production (like Embrocation Cycling used to)...they are some of the best socks around and far more durable than anything else I've tried. So +1,000.

Find out who made these because they are by far the best cycling socks I own:

I have used DNA Cycling (https://store.dnacycling.com/) for several custom sock orders, including the wool Paceline socks. 3 dozen minimums, IIRC. Good pricing and service. High quality.

Based on Colorado Springs (I think)

JMoore, is that 3-doz per size or per design? Do you remember? I've heard wonderful things about DNA's kits and skinsuits.

Per design, but you need at least 1 dozen per size.

They will help with the design as well. So you don't need a graphic designer. Good folks for sure.

Darn Tough is another option. Not sure about minimums, but they make a very good product. Made in Vermont, and they offer a lifetime warranty on them. If you wear a hole in one, they will replace it.

Darn Tough MOQ = 1200 pairs. Little out of my range sadly.
