We've had nothing aside from the isolated spots, often on individual trees, that turn quickly and fade.

I had been using this to plan. Not sure if the predictions are being updated though.

https://newengland.com/seasons/fall/foliage/peak-fall-foliage-map/

I had been planning a VT or NH trip Oct 4-7. I've been wanting to do one of the VT Gravel Growler routes

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/16256858

Having gotten a fair amount of gravel lately I may make it into more of a road thing on the "scenic highways".

Only 2 hours up from you and leaves are starting to fall too but no signs of color change yet, can’t wait.

In central NY this year looks like a serious underperformed for fall foliage.
We usually peak just after Columbus Day weekend and we should already be seeing vibrant colors.
We have pretty much nada.
We have green leaves, and we have maples with yellow/brown leaves that are falling rapidly.
Not sure why......alll the heat and humidity? The abundant rainfall?

Started big in CO..maybe a bit earlier due to it being so dry.

My understanding is that for peak colors, the end of the summer/early fall needs to be somewhat dry with cool nights. That is the opposite of what has happened. Where I am we have had torrential rain followed by warm humid times then more rain. I see lots of trees going straight to brown.

Southern IN is getting a little color around the edges but appears that we won't peak until last week in Oct which is late for us. The annual Hilly Hundred is next weekend. The bad news is that the colors won't be as intense as usual; the good news is that there won't be as many leaves to make downhill cornering treacherous.

Here in the Binghamton area there are a few leaves that've dropped but no real color change.

I was in Northern Maine a week ago, Baxter State Park. Very limited color for this time of year, it had been warm and dry there recently.

Made it to Breckenridge. While I'm too late for peak color, I'm not complaining! The views out both sides of my suite are nice enough, but I had just enough daylight left to get out for 2+ hours easy hiking the trails right behind my hotel, and loved it. Came across the Breckenridge Freeride Park, the Fairy Forest, more color, water, and better views from higher elevations.

Almost nothing here yet. I've seen a couple of maples starting to turn, and black walnuts dropping leaves as they always do - but they never have any color. It's going to be near 90 degrees here tomorrow, so not exactly like fall - though we were down in the 30s overnight a few days ago.

Nothing yet in GA, SC, NC, and western VA.
Heading north and will be back home in a week. Gotta find my warm clothes, I know I brought them....

Not as much foliage color today, but much more fun! Tackled a lot more distance and elevation - hiked about 6 hours, about 20 miles, starting elevation of 9,600, peak elevation of 11,700, just slightly above the tree line. Perfect conditions today - it felt awesome.

Over the entire time, saw 4 other hikers, 2 mountain bikers, one trail runner, and 3 moose.

Three questions of the group:

Why are so many evergreen trees on the west side of the divide dead? (see last photo below) I noticed as we crossed the divide coming to Breckenridge - all green on the East side, lots of dead on the West side. Correction: I'm in the shuttle back to Denver as I'm typing this, and we just came out the East side of the divide. Dead trees prevalent here also, just on slopes that I wasn't watching on the outbound trip the other day. Question still stands though, why so many dead?
What is that really beautiful bird? There were a pair singing to each other around 10,500 feet up, and they both flew around me, landing on trees and the ground no more than 5 feet from me. (see photos below)
Is it normal that there's no snow at all on these ~13k Colorado peaks? In Oregon, I'm used to year-round snow at the top of the Cascade peaks.

My buddy just texted me a few pics from Killington in Vermont this weekend. Peak right now. He thinks southern Vermont and south will be prime this week.

1) That's beetle kill. Different trees grow on different aspects of slopes, so that's why you get such a marked difference one side to the other.
2) Not sure about your bird. I really need to get better at ID'ing species that aren't raptors.
3) Yes, it's "normal". There aren't a lot of glaciers in that area, and the first serious snow is anywhere from end of Sept to mid-October. They are getting covered in snow as I type this, and they won't be free of snow until mid-July.

Ha, I was just thinking today that New York went from New Orleans this summer to Seattle today. Getting on my nerves. They forecast a nice week, and I wake up to dank.
Colors are starting to happen in Upper Westchester. Big temp change happening over the weekend, and they say next week will only be in the 50s for highs. Hope the transition isn't too windy and brutal.

Dry summer here meant that the quakies peak came and went in a hurry. We missed the best of it, but still had a wonderful weekend in the hills.
