Sadly, lame to me. If ford ever pushes out the new bronco though...

... I still won’t be able to afford a new car :)

I hope it turns out to be a good vehicle, but reliability will probably always be a concern. I also hope the rear seats fold flat so the floor is flat all the way. I just wouldn't buy a van or SUV that could not provide a flat cargo area. Just a personal requirement, your mileage may vary.

With all the mid-size SUV/crossover things people can't seem to buy enough of these days, I'm surprised the Blazer nameplate hasn't been returned to service sooner.

looks like FWD based unibody vehicle.

there are how many of these on the market now?

of the "big 3" us auto manufacturers, in the non-truck lineup, i think chevy is clearly dead last.

tahoe/suburban/silverado are still good truck based vehicles, but the rest of the line-up is a joke.

At first glance I thought it looked like the new RDX from the side. Regardless of what specific model it looked like, my brain quickly scrolled through the brands... Honda, Toyota, Acura, etc.... never would I have thought Blazer.

there are so many small SUV's that look like that I would have thought I had seen it 20 times yesterday. And, in one sense, I did.

What they need to do is just built the old stuff shapes, same stuff they had back in the day, with 21th century suspension, engine, tranny and interior.

For example the el camino... or a blazer k5... or a nova 1971-74... or a chevy II station wagon...

Trailblazer was quite a different vehicle. My ‘02 Blazer was miserable to drive, underpowered, inefficient, shoddily built. Damn thing was slower than molasses and still couldn’t get 200 miles on a tank.

The platform was already ancient when it was built, I can’t imagine how they sold them through ‘05.

+1

We had a '77 K5 when I was living at home. Full time 4wd, 400 ci that was rebuilt (Holley, Edelbrock, Comp Cams), dual exhaust 90 deg turned out in front of rear tires, black ext. red int. w/velour upholstered seats. That was a real Blazer. Had some good times in that bad boy

Eddie, how's that any different from a gazzilion other SUV's already out on the road today?

Now if you said that you were getting a Stelvio, you'd have my undivided attention, but not that thing. Sorry. :(

Doesn't look like much to me in all honesty. I think the Japanese stuff is pretty good in the economy SUV space of the market, the CRV's and RAV4's are not bad at all. Even in the luxury end of things, Lexus is doing a great job with the NX200t and the RX350.

Very tangential here, but I have never owned a Chevy vehicle. But last week happened to have 2 rentals in my household (one car was in the shop, the other rental was for a work trip). One was a Chevy Malibu (msrp $22,090) and the other was a Kia Optima (msrp $22,900). Both were entry level models, and besides the cost, these two vehicles couldn't have been more different. The Kia was hands down a nicer vehicle in every aspect that I can think of. Just made me think that there is no reason to ever consider a Chevy in the future.

As mentioned, the silverado is a good truck. if you have the need/want for a full sized SUV the tahoe/suburban line is pretty good for what it is too. also, the new colorado looks pretty good.

the cars and "CUVs" though - no way, i'm amazed anyone buys them. same with their sister brand buick, junque.

because there are a lot of "legacy" buyers who wouldn't be caught dead in an import.

And they'll buy this, even though it's made in Mexico, over Toyotas, Hondas, VWs, BMWs, etc. that are actually made in the US.

Don’t kid yourself. Honda builds many of their most popular vehicles in Mexico including Blazer competitors CRV and HRV. Toyota is investing over $150M to enhance an existing facility in partnership with Mazda. The auto industry is global. Design, component manufacturing and vehicle assembly are international in scope for all major players.
