Hello-

I'm going to be back up in Portland this week and I'm interested to swing by a few local shops to see if there are any good deals (gotta take advantage of the 0% sales tax). Where should I go?

-Thanks, Todd

among others, en selle--usually has a killer year end sale on some pretty esoteric stuff (perhaps a little early); lakeside, really good guys with some really good stuff; river city, a huge shop with a huge number of guys and gals working the floor all with health insurance; bike galleries, they have serottas, aand very good shops professionally run. There are others that don't immediately come to mind. Oh, you could drop in on Sacha at Vanilla, he's usually happy to show folks around.

If you are interested in fixed/messenger or track stuff, the best place in town is Bike Central. They are a co-op and are located in downtown Portland at 113 SW Naito Pkwy. They are fixed-gear specialists and run many of the events at the Alpenrose Velodrome.

If you like eye candy, River City and lakeside are the places to go. Lakeside is a ways out of town though..
Many of the river city staff that are racing cross seem to be on Serotta bikes this fall..

Cyclepath. A true gem of a small shop. They get it.

velo shop and sellwood cycles are both amazing shops, along with those shops that were mentioned before. Velo shop has great cross and track stuff anodized chris king hub sets etc, plus the owner is really nice.
