At the Vuelta today Saturday they mentioned because of the 25% grade they were riding 1 to 1 gearing
how is done With the use of a Campagnolo compact now at 50t / 36t it would mean a 36t big rear cog
What am I missing

11-36t rear cassettes exist and are compatible with medium cage rd's...
or they just use 34 x 34 (which also exists)
MOST of the peloton is not riding campy so its not really a big deal to hit a 1:1 ratio.

I use 1-1 (triple 30 with 12-30) on 15% grades LOL.

Amazing - announcer stated that this stage (+16/19% gradient) would not have been included years ago because it would have been too difficult. Todays gearing/technology allows it.

NBC Gold announcers said the actual gradient was 26% for one area of the final climb. They said Kruijswijk had 34 teeth in front and 32 teeth in back.

Campag 'compact' is 34t..11-32 in the rear..not one to one but close. shimano was 43t front 11-34 rear..1 to 1...

4 of top 10 stage 14 finishers, 3 of top ten GC, points leader and mountain leader..after stage 14..all on Campag equipped teams so I guess it isn't THAT much of an issue..to be '1 to 1'...:)
