Bianchi Campione (https://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/bik/d/bianchi-champione-road-racing/6663213445.html) on CL and eBay. I'm tempted to make an offer but don't know enough to know what is reasonable.

Was this made in the 90s?

As you can see, he bought it new and built it up with new parts, but they are not top drawer (Shimano Sora DR). He says he paid $550 for just the frame and forks. Is that a reasonable price? Or did he overpay and is now trying to pass that along?

that's either a 95 or 96 model.they are likely the same.if he paid $550 for the frameset that was probably full retail during that time.

He said that's what the frames go for now on eBay, ~$550. Is that so? I cannot find any completed listings on EB for that frame.

i sold a complete bianchi campione 3 years ago for 400, and i feel like i got the better side of that deal.
they're not particularly special. though that one is in rather nice condition. i'd say $450 at most. it's also stupid tall, so his range of buyers is limited / it's a buyer's market for that size.

My first road bike was a Bianchi Campione. It was decent enough, but it's lower-end frame. I wouldn't pay anything close to $550 frame/fork.

I find it really hard to believe that he paid $550 for the frame, given what I paid for a Reparto Corse Zero Uno frameset new in '96.

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure that Tange tubing means that it was built in Japan rather than Italy. That means that it's not a Reparto Corse frame and while I'm sure it's a decent bike, as was said above, it is not a higher end Bianchi. The larger size does add some value since they are less common...in a more normal size I'd say that's a $3-350 bike at best.

Like others have said, the Campione was low end. If Bianchi's top steel frame sets generally go for $500-$600 on ebay, I would value the Campione frame somewhere in the $200 range.

Who sells a bike at CL giving warranty??? Maybe the dude is a shop, and that could explain the extra 150.

Nothing special, keep looking. The fact that it has been listed for over a month should tell you something.....

+1 --- just b/c its a celeste bianchi doesn't mean its the 'one'....look for Columbus SL or SLX tubing from the 80s and made in Italty...the Campione was a japan built lower end model (Tange tubing gives that away)....its still a very nice riding bike, just not gonna command that top dollar asking price. Especially with Sora and other budget components. Also, I'm not sure if its the picture or maybe the size of the frame, but the fork/headtube junction looks a little tweaked.
