I'd choose dura ace every time. More durable freehub body.

There is a steel freehub body available for the 240s hub.

For CX build.

will you possibly be switching this wheelset between QR and Thru axle bikes? If so DT has made their wheels pretty much future proof.

I'd go 240, Dura ace has aged in the hub department

Easier to service and way more spoke/axle options

Less $(by a bit), more drilling combos, convertible...I’d say DT...350 should be considered. Same guts, ‘offshore’ shell but DT thru and thru. Maybe 350 with steel FHB upgrade.

For CX build.

Shimano: easily rebuildable.

DT Swiss hubs aren't known for having the best seals when it's crappy out

The bearings are different in the 350 they use TPI - Taiwan made, 240 use IJK Japanese made, among other differences. It’s not just the hub shell. a more expensive product made by the same manufacturer would be higher quality. 350’s are not bad, they are just slightly lower quality than 240’s.

Right and 1/2 of the $..it's a bike hub, afterall. BUT $18 for a 6902 bearing? Ouch, better ones out there for less $...

I with ya on that. And for CX where its going to take a beating, the 350 will do just fine

Well geeez..cross racing, where low spoke count disc wheels are a bad idea anyway. XT/Deore/CX shimano hubs are great hubs..

I agree which is why I was surprised that Shimano's new disc CX wheels are 24/24. Guess it's the extra large Shimano spokes that make up for it tho.
