A big green beauty. Saw it yesterday at Tony's A Bicycle Odyssey shop in Sausalito, CA, a great place to routinely see a diverse sampling of beautiful steel bikes that are still in active duty.

My compliments to the lucky (and tall!) owner who brought it in for a steel fork replacement; it will be custom made, not surprisingly.

I love the Ciavetes, most especially my own, but I also love the simplicity and minimalism of this frame. A wonderful example of an early chapter in a brilliant artist's evolution.

Cheers.

It resembles the old Serotta "Cha-Ching" Green.

Neat.

Just out of curiosity, did they say why the were swapping out the OP fork?

Really nice guys work in that shop and what a beautiful place to go to work!

There was another super tall frame for sale the last time I went there maybe it was this guy's.

Could that be pave 27's on a set of belgium plus rims? Surprising that it fits in the rear end if so.

They have 23s too it seems. I brought one back from the shop one day thinking it's 27 but only realize it's 23 when I try to mount it on.

FWIW, my 2008 era Duende fits 27 Vittoria Paves on Hed Belgiums... although we're not talking the wider 'Plus' version rims.

You have a good eye; Pave 27s front and rear.

Louis, ran into the owner yesterday. Asked him why he's going back to a steel fork (the bike originally came with one). He said he likes the ride better.

He can't find the original so I recommended he connect with Pietro/Team Pegoretti or Mr. Kirk.

Cheers.

Thanks for the follow-up. I hope he gets the ride he's looking for.

In my experience (steel vs CF forks on the same steel frame) the biggest difference between the two is that when you ride over a bump or hole a steel fork goes "twang" and a CF fork goes "thud."
