View Full Version : Rotors for Ultegra Disc Brake Calipers
My bike has Ultegra disc brake calipers. The bike currently has Shimnao Ultegra (RT-800) centerlock rotors because the hub is centerlock. However, I am about the change the wheels and these wheels have 6-bolt hubs. So, since I cannot use my Ultegra centerlock rotors with my 6-bolt hubs, what is the decent 6-bolt rotor that works well with Ultegra disc brakes?
I know that I can use any 6-bolt rotor. But I am assuming that some 6-bolt rotors work better than others in a Shimano Ultegra disc brake system.
Your advice based on your experience will be appreciated. Thanks!

You can use anything- But I like the XT level 6 bolt rotors.
I went through a similar exercise on my hardtail. It was 6 bolt and SRAM.
I switched to XTR 9000 race brakes.
Rotors were still the weak link in the chain.
I switched to Shimano rotors and all is well.

I used to use the same above, XT level ice tech rotor and they were great and not too much money (usually around $30 each)

Depends on rotor size. There are some Shimano options in 6-bolt at 160mm and larger. If you are in need of 140mm, no Shimano options exist.
I just did some Swiss Stop Catalyst rotors for my DA R9170 build in 160/140 and 6-bolt and am very happy with them.

Agree. The XT 6 bolts are nice at a good price if you use 160. The super baller SRAM 6 bolt two-piece are also really nice and light but they are never on sale and are too expensive.
