I stumbled across this bike and I can't seem to find out anything about it. As you will see, all it has is "SR" on the downtube. I know that Sakae Ringyo of Japan make some parts years ago and wonder if this is associated with this company.

Also can you help me out with the parts on this (I'm not too good with the vintage stuff). The stem looks like a Cinelli, but that's about all I can figure out.

Thanks!

good-looking bike with Nuovo Record gruppo? Sometimes there are marks on the underside of the BB that gives a hint.

Right now all I have is this picture. It's for sale locally and am going to try and purchase this -- but I haven't seen it in person yet.

Pretty sure that is Shimano 600. I had it on my first race bike.

That water bottle looks like it would be a real pain to try to grab while riding.

Indeed it would. It looks like a variation of the Campy aero bottle from years ago.

I think that waterbottel may be Shimano as well. This was the era of the "Shimano Aero" group. Early to mid 80's.

Good find. The seller did mention it was a "semi-pro". Thanks.

yep, I now have a better picture and can see it's not Campy NR. I was hopeful that it might be because that stuff was generally only put on quality bikes and even if a bike isn't your size the components are worth quite a bit today to collectors and restorers.

May be a Shimano 600 ax stem from the aero group ("ax"). The post is likely an SR Laprade. Couple 600 photos:

Good job Bittersweet!!! Even though like Ken Robb stated, I too was hoping that the components might be worth purchasing even if the bike didn't fit.

From the picture, it does look like nicely built lugged frame and if I purchase this, I might be offering this up for sale on the forum since I think it is going to be too big. It certainly has potential.

This was the era I first really got into road biking. I basically rode a Huffy-esque monster into the ground, saved all my money, and my mom drove me down from NH to Pedal Power in Acton,MA which was a well regarded shop in the day. The dollar to yen rate was good and this style of Japanese bikes was very prevalent (Univega, Miyata, Lotus). My Lotus is virtually identical but with more chrome and in red. I have no idea if the frames back then were any good but I didn't know better and the parts worked fine. I lusted after a Colnago and Campy but that would have required more lawns mowed and less riding. I raced my Lotus in well over 50 races and thought it was fine. A friend got sponsored and I then bought his old Pinarello with the Campy I lusted after.

The Lotus and Pinarello still hang in my parents garage. I really recognized those brake levers as my hoods are in a similar state after what can only be described as "melting" off the lever body. The red anodized pivot was a give away.

Others should opine if there is any value in this stuff as I have no clue.
