This is the first confirmation i've seen that Campy is also locked in for '07
with QuickStep.

Interesting that the text says "complete" group, so i guess no Specialized integrated
cranks. Maybe they needed to make the bike heavier for the UCI weight limit?

where's all the bling? Oh, and those don't look like the bars PB prefers.

I remember reading that Campy now requires teams who they sponsor to use their (Campy's) cranks....and maybe brakes as well.....or nothing at all. Likely in an effort to stave off the FSA on-slaught.

It must hurt alot not to have a specially painted bike for the time being. :D

I hope for SBI sake they don't run into any mechanicals this upcoming year like Trek had with GH bike. They have really made something out of nothing with there road bikes and it would be a pity for bad publicity over some broken frames.

Quick step is gonna be riding RED bikes?? Assuming they stay w/thier usual blue & white kit...fugly.
Perhaps they're trying to emulate Phonak???

Well.....Campagnolo lists Bouygues Telecom as a sponsored team, and they use Stronglight cranks....(although they did switch back to Campy brakes from Mavic)

It could be that is part of the sponsorship deal since "red" is Specialized's color. If you want to be specific, and I know you do, Specialized red is called Flo Red.

Oohhh... white bike, gold saddle, gold tape, gold wheels, faux-marble carbon crankset. And then he'll probably wear those gold shorts.

Hurts my eyes just thinking about it.

I know Specialized likes their red, but I thought the Gerolsteiner bikes looked pretty good last year. I guess the didn't stand out enough. If they're looking to grow overseas, red doesn't seem a very euro-chic choice.

Don't forget...not only will the bike be white, it'll have the arc-en-ciel in various places. And what if they somehow incorporate the tri-colore (he is the Italian National Champ too, after all). How do your eyes feel NOW?

this year if you see a campy gruppo youll see it include a campy crank. otherwise you can ride another gruppo. business is business and it aint about weight!

Yep, nothing aginst Specialized and as good as they no doubt are to ride, they do not have the cred of Time's best offerings. How can I put this politely...OK, I can't. Specialized look like toys with all the silly shapes and swoops, not pro machines. It will take a while to get used to seeing Bett and Boonen on these...

Fugly wheels, I just want to read Jobst Brandts reaction, that would be fun.
The wheels look like road kill got wrapped around the hubs.
Then the bike got left on the rack on a really hot day.

Sponsored By Brooks & Nitto, who's bikes have no trouble making weight.

The whole thing is pretty bad, ATMO...but those wheels are exceptionally bad....I think I may have seen their design inspiration a couple of days ago on the Sci Fi Channel's Twilight Zone marathon....

if you paint the frame, fork, hubs, and rims all white with little sparkles, it would have a very frosty the snow man / snow flake look that might be nice. then, if they just wrote specialized on the dt and st in black without all the craziness, this bike might look alright.

This thread should probably be marked NSFW with that thing posted.

Seriously.....post a pic of a classic Sachs, Weigle, whatever next to that. I know they largely serve different purposes, but that Specialized is repulsive compared to the beauty that can be achieved in bicycle design.

I can't wait to see one of the locals buy the replica and run it with a +17 riser stem and 4cm of spacers.

Sure is cool looking at lugged steel being ridden at a high level in ATMO's colors. I wonder who he has build them for the team?

At least Specialized and Cannondale are both pushing for a new industry standard for BB design. This might help to deal with what I see as a fundamentally compromised design on outboard bearing BB/Cranksets like Shimano/Campagnolo/FSA.

I believe that Specialized and Cannondale have the same standard and each sell their bikes with their own cranks.

If nothing else is progress, this is, IMHO.

PS - I expect this to stir up some controversy. I am not an engineer, but it seems like the new BBs are being designed around a very old standard of width and diameter of the shell and a new standard might allow for better, less compromised designs.

It doesn't matter what they ride, blah blah blah, but ugly crap like those nasty bikes makes me so very glad I'm a professional amateur. Those bikes hurt my eyes, no matter how they're painted.

Bike and wheel design aside, I think this color scheme is better than the red/white paint job the rest of the team is getting. Sure, it's not a two color panel scheme, but they're not trying to sell retro themed bikes.

Personally, I like the black/white with the integrated gold and WC stripes. They could've done a lot worse in the paint dept.

It's certainly a heck of a lot better than that nuclear green thing Liquigas is riding. They put a hologram on the top tube? ***?

trek had this super cool cow paint scheme via that project 1 biz that had me wanting a oclv. in the end, the bike is just a little whack for me and i left it alone.
