I know I’m getting to old for these but I just can’t get enough of these old freestyle bikes. If your between 40-45 you just may have had one of these in your garage!

These threads always bring back great memories. I was a BMX and freestyle punk in the late 70s to early 80s. Had a Haro freestyler, a GT Performer, and finally had my dream bike, a Hutch Trickstar. It was great being young and indestructible.

I was more into racing, BUT, had a Skyway T/A all "white out" (even tires) spent 1/2 a day at the shop making a red/white/blue linked chain from 3 individuals, cool bike.. We had a program in ?85 where we would let kids pick any of the GT / Dyno / Skyway (SE was an upcharge for the 531 quadangle) frames with tuff wheels in any color combo and build for a fixed price, had some wild combos.

Racing wise, had a Schwinn Sting (paramount build tri-oval) with campy graphite tuffs loved that bike, sold to get a mountain bike #regrets !!

miss those 2 bikes.. shoulda/schmudda kept 'em

Did you see the used prices on Trickstars recently? They are insane! Never owned one but always desired that Hutch. I was a Haro Master fan myself.

I've seen a few on eBay and couldn't believe what they sold for. Makes me wish I kept mine.

I did freestyle (mostly flatland) from 11 yrs old til I was 18 and switched to road racing. Grew up being a bike shop rat. Lots of competition and shows. Lots of scars to show for it.
Too many bikes to count (somethings never change). here is one of my favorites my redline rl20 II.
I keep thinking about getting something retro to have but survivor prices are crazy,

BTW I still do that thing with my tongue when I climb

A little something from the Pavlicek archives

I had a hot pink GT performer, white mag wheels with the flip up pegs on the front. That brings back some memories.

Also had GT Performer, Bright Orange, Black Mags.
I also had a black Dyno Zone with green decals. Man, those were the days; nothing but tail whips, bar spins, bunny hops, and scars on my shins from pegs.

Oh yeah. I rode freestyle BMX from '86-'92 ish, then picked it up again from '97-'00. I had a Kuwahara for a bit, then a series of Haro bikes.

About five or 6 years ago I picked up an S&M dirt jumping bike. I took it out a few times, but I was overweight and terrible.

I really enjoy seeing Haro's 30th anniversary bikes; modern bikes but with the visual aesthetics from 30 years in the past.

BITD I owned a few rides that were race bikes converted by me to try freestyling. Redline 102b F+F with all the goodies to make it work, etc. My "last" bike before a car was an 84 Mongoose Californian.

However, in the last 15 years or so I've owned - and subsequently sold - more than 150 BMX and freestyle rides from the OS era. MANY GTs, including a non-stamp 84, Haros out the wazoo and even a rare GJS freestyler.

So many ... and so much loot made to pay my bills LOL

Didn't do freestyle but I dabbled a bit in BMX racing. Used to love going to the drug store and pick up a copy of BMX Plus back in the day. And having a sweet number plate twisty tied to my handlebars. Awesome memories!!!

I volunteer as a bike advocacy boardmember and a new person on the Board told us that he won the World Champion freestyle BMX title in 1986 or something!

I googled him and found some pretty awful grainy youtube footage of him at Expo86 in Vancouver in a white jumpsuit pulling some pretty insane tricks on a bike. You would never know to see him now, except for the stories and the immense number of scars on his arms from wipeouts and surgeries :)

Really love seeing the old BMX / Freestyle stuff every now and again. Best memory was seeing the CW Freestyle team perform in Marlborough MA back I think in 1986 or 1987. Dizz Hicks, Ceppie Maes, Greg Kove and a young kid whose name I cannot remember. Was able to get the factory CW Freestyle frame from the bike store that the team rode at the time and really wish I kept that bike. Black with pink decals and started with black Skyway Magnesium Tuff wheels but switched over the 48 spoke Peregrine wheels.

If you have a few minutes check out this flatland competition from 2013 (especially the kid with the tan backwards hat brown pants at about the 9:10 mark). Due to the ESPN X-Games I knew the ramp stuff was crazy, but the flatland competitions are absolutely unbelievable (no brakes on any of those bikes).

Hutch Windstyler, mid-80's. Big disappointment from my prior "real" BMX racing bikes.
