Hi folks:

I bought a Potenza group with a 52x36 crankset for my CX bike, knowing that I will likely use the 36t almost exclusively.

That said, I would like to have a larger ring, but a 52t is way too big for this bike. I cannot find anything out there, so I appeal to the Paceline to see if you know of a 44 or 46t outer ring for a 2018 Potenza crank (I think its a 145mm BCD?)

I cannot see anything by Campy, Stronglight, and TA is unclear. Are there any other options out there?

If you have one, I am happy to trade for a 52t with nary a shift as of yet (other than in the stand during setup) :).

Isn't this (https://specialites-ta.com/plateaux/road/x145-chainring.html) what you're looking for, albeit probably in silver?

You'll probably have to mail order it from across the pond, but they are available. Campagnolo doesn't make any outer chainrings smaller than 50 teeth, and I believe that Stronglight only go down to 48 teeth, but TA makes Campagnolo 4 arm 145mm outer chainrings from 42 - 54 teeth.

Yes, it is. The part that I wasn't clear about is why it doesn't list Potenza as having compatibility. If it fits the higher end stuff, if should fit the Potenza, right?

Also, I would prefer a 44t, but beggars can't be choosers.

Considering the proximity of the holes to the teeth I'm guessing 46T is as small as one can go on the outer.

In regards to Record, Chorus being Potenza compatible I'll leave that to ol' pot and the new Campy-o-philes.

Actually, TA's website (https://specialites-ta.com/x145-chainring.html) lists 46 to 53t outer chainrings (i.e. their X145 model). Their inner rings (X112) go from 34 to 44t. Peter White's site (http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/ta-chainrings.php#x112) lists 48 to 53t X145 chainrings, but I wouldn't be surprised if he had some 46t rings. So, the OP may not have to mail order from overseas.

Oops! Your right - I misread the specs. (Technically, you can make a 42 tooth chainring that fits on a 145mm BCD, but I suppose there's not much demand for an outer chainring that small if the smallest inner ring is 34 tooth.)

Dumb question, but can I use a 44t inner chainring in an outer position? would the chain ramps work with a 36t inner Campy ring?

I could live with a 46t if need be . . . . .

Dont see why you couldnt, thats how the stuff was done long time ago, the only set back is that the pin wont be there and the ramps to help the thing shift better wont be there, but w/o trying is hard to tell how bad it could be you know.

I want great shifting, so I should just stick with the 46t TA as it is a proven configuration and the ramps will work as advertised...

Two different bolt circles as the X145 and X112 imply. I say live with the 46.

Duuhhh, of course! Sorry, I missed that detail. I will try to track down a TA 46t ring and be done with it.

Does anyone want a 52t ring :)??
