Hello to all,
I'm on the market for a new bike and I'd like some advice from you.
These are more or less the characteristics I'm looking for:
- all-round frame, with good climbing and descent skills
- effective (non UCI) tires clearance up to 28/30mm measured
- rim brakes, I would really appreciate the direct mount brakes
- relatively comfortable, also oriented to outputs + 150km

For now I'm oriented to these models:
- Bianchi Specialissima, I tried it, it's really remarkable
- Orbea Orca OMR, I don't know nothing about the ride quality
- BMC Teammachine SLR01, tires clearance?

Thank you in advance

Thank you, but the stack it's too high for me, this frame don't fit well, I need a reasonable "race" fit.

Have you looked at the new offerings from Canyon now that they are selling direct? Lots of bike for the money there and I’ve heard several positive reports from folks in the know.

As you mentioned above, there are only 2 things to consider, fit and....fit..
Have you been able to either do an extensive ride on the above choices or at least know which fits the best? Bianchi really remarkable, and it fits? Sounds like a good choice.

The Specialissima fit well for me, but I don't know about tyre clearance ....

Seems if you were able to "fit" the bike it would be an easy matter to take a few measurements and get a sense of the max tire size.

If the geo works, Trek Emonda SL6 on up. The 2018 models come stock with excellent dm brakes.

I tested the Specialissima few month ago, the geometry fit enough to mine, but I don't measured the tires clearance.

Why do you require giant tires on a race bike? Are you going to run a set of crazy wide ENVEs or Rovals?

Maybe let's work w/in the OP's set of parameters instead of questioning them?

Maybe he's not asking a frame question but a wheel question. In other words, depending on which wheels I run on my CAAD12 or C60, I can use tires labelled up to 30 (but actually measuring under 28.5).

I have a BMC teammachine slr01 (2014 model), running 27mm Vittoria Pave tires on 25mm wide rims...fits with plenty of room to spare. Bet you could squeeze a 28mm tire in there. I love this bike. Ticks off all of the boxes you mentioned.

I've test ridden the BMC Team Machine SLR01. It has a very distinct handling due to the high trail (61?) for my size. The bike was exceptionally smooth and did not have the "dead" feel attributed a carbon. The bike was not squirelly, as evidenced by the trail, yet it did not feel sluggish. I can only imagine how stable the bike would feel at high speeds. And that is a plus in my book.
Oh also, the bike was very comfortable. While it was comfortable, it did not feel as stiff in the BB as the Dogma. As a matter of fact, the Dogma, for my weight of 145 ish, was exceptionally stiff in the BB and also overall. So, while the BMC was not as stiff at the BB as the Dogma, it was stiff enough at the BB for my needs. I mean, the BMC is a stiff bike. But stiff in a good way, i.e., stiff while being comfortable. And smooth, I did mention that, didn't I? :)

From you list I would get the BMC.

*EDIT: The trail was a 63! Still, ride the bike, if you have not. It is a great ride!

I think that Cervelo R5 have a good chance to be my next bike, perfect geometry, good tyre clearance, amazing ride quality.

and from what i have heard about the company in the past virtually no customer service. you may want to research if this has changed over the past serveral years.

I love the Bianchi. I think I would look at the Colnago C64 to. I am assuming the OP wants a carbon frame.
