Titanium etching

Anyone know what Merlin did to get the dark coloring in their engravings on certain bare titanium frames? Looking to redo a Merlin and want the etchings to stand out a bit. Thanks!

I would guess a resin.

Their etchings always struck me as a little deep, surprised it never had structural issues. Absolutely gorgeous though, surprised other builders didn't do anything similar.
