Colnago EPS.
Rocket. Clearance for 28s. Wordperfect team bike homage paint when the old paint was beat up from riding and racing the expletive out of it.

A few that passed through my hands--currently Colnago free...
In order:
CT1
Master Piu
NOS Retinato Super
Tecnos

I was really only 1 for 4 on these--the CT1 was perfect (Colnago 59) and only sold out of necessity. The Master was too big (and had some rust issues) so dumped cheap after I rechromed the fork; the Super was too small, and the Tecnos was a Freuler style frame with a TT that was too long. (And people ask why I claim that people have trouble measuring Colnagos!)

In my dreams I pick up a nice Tecnos and/or a C40/50 in the right size....

That's just what I heard from a cat on a Pinarello F10. Plus, around here the riders who pay retail for Colnago have never heard of the internet.

Ha,ha yep some deep pockets for sure but nothing wrong with that, trickle down economics at work and all that if you believe in it. All kidding aside thru this forum and all you fellas I have learned that Colnago is simply one of the best bang for buck used bikes out there. I don't own one yet but if I see a thread on the brand I take notice.

That C59(?) Mapei is just the coolest.

What's the story on the Belgian flag paint scheme on that Master?

Trying a C-series Colnago is definitely on my short list for road bikes.

Mid to late '90s Master CX. No serial number, so Laura @ Colnago couldn't give me any information on it.

Ernesto built a handful of steel 'cross bikes for professional racers, starting in the '70s. I've been able to identify 5 or 6 over the years, but never another steel lugged CX frame.

After some research (and assistance via other internauts) I thought I had found the original owner, Luca Bramati, but he confirmed that the 'cross bike he raced was slightly different. I think his didn't have lugs, IIRC.

Anyway, it's one of my two favorite bikes...the other is a more modern C50. I'm in the (slow) process of building a Master Olympic. We'll see where that slots in, when it's done. :)

Thanks for the kind words gents. I admit to being "particular" about bike appearance so dedicated a fair amount of time to curating parts. I got rid of my XR4 rim and migrated as much of its parts over to the C64 as possible.

With respect to tire clearance, the mounted Dugasts are 27 but there is a lot of room for wider tires.

It's my first Colnago and it rides like a dream. The majority of my rides have been in terrible rain so the experiment with disc brakes have been positive minus the squealing. A few more pics my mechanic snapped

What are the differences between the Extreme C and C50?

Extreme-C was the "climbing version" of the C-50. It's lighter, perhaps less stiff - but still plenty stiff unless you are a bigger guy.

What are the differences between the Extreme C and C50?

and structurally speaking, the carbon lugs are slightly shorter to reduce weight, the tubes on the C have round profile as opposed to the 'clover' cross section and the HP-stay chainstays are omitted in favor of a more traditional stay. All to reduce weight ostensibly

What are the differences between the Extreme C and C50?

C40 was the base, then C50.
Extreme-C was a climber version of the C50, and the Extreme-Power (E-P) was a sprinter version.
The main diffrences were in the tubing, lugs, chainstays.
There were some subsequent models, briefly, before the C59/60/64.

It is all explained very well here: Colnago C series family tree (http://brown-snout.com/cycling/tech/_colnago-c40-family-tree.pdf)

Rocket. Clearance for 28s. Wordperfect team bike homage paint when the old paint was beat up from riding and racing the expletive out of it.

Thankfully no one was smart enough to buy this thing when I was stupid enough to offer it cheap.

I need to find a pic of my old AD10 Master Olympic from '95.That thing was nice.

And I found some photos of my old Master.
From some winter ride:

With the matchy-match blue Precisa fork and saddle that slipped:

And rocking the original Cosmics. I think I took the picture after winning a crit(!) that evening:

From the last little ride.
Such a fantastic machine. Even compared to the more techno advanced machines ie ridden. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180906/6e043bff12b84467efd57bf36f9a96f4.jpg

Colnago c60, SRAM Red eTap, ee brakes, Reynolds 46 aero wheels. Dirty from my ride through Pinehurst where the trees were dripping from the fog. I try to keep it cleaner. First CF road bike ever. Rides incredibly well. Also looks awesome in the back of my truck which I have been told is not a common transportation method for Colnago bikes... I want to trim off some of the bar tape and would like to figure out a way to black out the wheels that doesn't involve a razor blade.

Acetone might work to get rid of those logos on the wheels. Beautiful bike. What's with the MTB pedals? Do you do a lot of MTB or cross riding too?

yeah i do a lot of gravel and cross riding. Ive just always ridden in MTB shoes and they've been "ok" for me. Probably would be better to get road shoes and pedals but my current setup is fine and im not road racing at all so haven't switched. I worry a bit about the acetone doing something bad to the carbon fiber. Maybe Ill reach out to Reynolds and see what they say.

I know a lot of guys that use a rag with acetone to remove brake pad residue on carbon rims.

Here's my Colnago Mapei Master. Probably my favorite paint scheme. This beauty was a gem of a Craigslist find. I sold the parts that came with it, and took my time to getting the Dura Ace and Colnago bar tape. But when it all came together it was art.

Gorgeous. I haven't seen many painted forks on those, is that a precisa fork? And yes the Mapei colorway is wonderful.

Yep, Precisa fork.

Yep, Precisa fork.

Thought so, thanks. Btw, have you considered getting white bike hoods for the DA levers? That would make the bike even prettier IMO, and you did go find Colnago bar tape :)

Unfortunately, this frame is just too small for me. I've kept the frame for many years just because it is so beautiful.
