I've been bitten once again by the "I need a new bike" bug...I've successfully fought it off several times in the recent past, but now I'm afraid it might result in a fever!!....
I need a Parlee Z5 or a Colnago C50 or a Look 585/595....the only problem is my wife says "one in, one out"!!...most likely my Serotta Legend Ti!!!...
I know that there are probably countless threads on this problem and these bikes!...but, I need relief!...
opinions?

My advice hinges on one question:

What size is the legend?

You’ll have no problem getting the ‘one out’.

Buy Colnago, sell serotta...:)

That certainly is a paint scheme.

2004...only one year, I think...lol!, conforms to my "old skool" hotrodder's mentality

....the only problem is my wife says "one in, one out"!!...I would remind her (cautiously) that that strategy has also been applied to spouses.
On second thought, I just saw your Serotta: keep the wife....

My strategy has been to buy bikes in the same color. That way it's just another blue bike you're riding...or the same blue bike you're riding. :)

You might have a bit of a challenge following this strategy with the Serotta as the base case. :)

If you have the money, my advice is to sell the Legend and it will likely go quick, then get the Colnago. I would get a newer one than the C50 though. I'm not sure a C50 is even an upgrade on the Legend.

That certainly is a paint scheme.

Totally disagree Flash. That paint scheme has come back in style again.

I'll be in the minority and go with the 585. It checks all the right boxes FOR ME.Lugged construction, English threaded BB, external cable routing,a regular seat post and clamp, plus it's light enough, fits ME as good, and rides better than any bike I have ever tried. After my first couple of rides on one I purchased here, I went a crazy spree and own.... lets just say more than one. After the first few rides I parked my Moots until I sold it.

I sold both of my 585 bikes back in 2010, when I quit cycling because my knees were shot and I had house and a hot rod to build. Now that those jobs are done (3000 hours each) and I've got two new knees, I've taken up cycling again at age 65.

The price of frames has gone up quite a bit in the last 8 years, but I found the LOOK 785 Huez frame for $1750 and I'm going to build it with Chorus 11. The frame and fork should be just as light as a 585. The ultralight RS version of this frame runs about twice that price. I can do without that.

One problem is the frame is really only available as a complete Ultegra or 105 bike, so anyone offering a frame only is buying a prebuilt bike and stripping off the parts. The 105 bike runs about $2400.

The Colnago C-RS looks nice too, for about the same price, but you have to like the relaxed Colnago steering geometry. I had two Colnago C-40 bikes when they were current and had no complaints.

If this bike gets built, it may be the last I ever own.

I’d sell the legend.

I wonder if Guy Fieri rides a 55cm...

Welcome back Dave. What kind of Hot Rod did you build?

Hmmm..let's see..some relationship observations, some aesthetic opinions...funny, although not the original owner...I , too, was slightly put off by the paint scheme but I was buying a Legend Ti after all..I considered stripping the finish to bare titanium, but decided why look like all the others and over time the paint scheme has grown on me...

Some say buy the C50, another says it's maybe not improvement on the Legend....Good reviews on the Look 585/595....

Good points on New...Look, Colnago etc......I have a recent year Ridley Helium which is quicker and more comfortable than the Serotta (it's 2lbs. Lighter)

Funny, no comments on the Parlee Z5

judging by the comments made...my “fever” might be abating...It appears that it's a “six of one, half dozen of another” type of thing, purely a choice..none are measurably better...I do like the Legend's uniqueness and heritage....so.....maybe I can get around the “one in, one out” reasoning :)

So don’t listen to the wife. Just because she said it doesn’t make it law. Mine tried to say the same thing half dozen bikes or so ago. Now she just shakes her head when something arrives she doesn’t approve of. Now if you were a 58 I might rethink my reply

Welcome back Dave. What kind of Hot Rod did you build?

I built a fiberglass bodied '37 by Oze Rod Shop. They supply the '37 Ford inspired body and rolling chassis and you do the rest. It's got a 2013 Chevy LS3, 430 hp, with 4L65E automatic. I did 100% of the build - nothing farmed out to pros. I don't know how to post pics these days, with the photobucket problems.

Here's a link to my facebook page. There's some pics there, including one with the house and 1800 square foot shop, near the devil's backbone in Loveland.
