I saw on tv a very short interview with one of the finishers in today's Marine Corp Marathon. He is quite a special runner and athlete. His goal is to run 50 consecutive marathons in 50 consecutive days in 50 states. Today, he did number 43. And you think that you are tough and have endurance.

Still on the run,

I would think that the travel coordination and the time that would take, especially Hawaii and Alaska, would make this one heck of a challenge. Unless on some days he plans two marathons a day to buy himself more travel time.

I have never heard of an organized marathon on a weekday --- did he explain where/how he found those? Or was he basically doing 26.2 mile training runs on most days, with an official marathon on weekends?

Here's what I remember from an interview with him ... hopefully I remember it correctly.

50 marathons ... real marathons and not just training runs of marathon length. 1 in each state for 50 days straight. One of his (or maybe it was his) goals is to motivate people and hopefully get them off their lazy butts. To train for this, he did ultra-distance training ... for example, if I remember right he did something like a 150 mile run. Absolutely crazy distances. But the idea was ... 26.2 miles would seem easy in comparison, making it easier for him to do 26.2 miles everyday for 50 days straight.

That's about all I remember from the interview though.
