I'm looking for climbing gears and new cranks seem like an expensive way to go. I stumbled upon IRD, who make Shimano-compatible 12-34 and 12-36 11 speed cassettes that should work with my Ultegra 6800.
Does anyone have experience with these?

You can assemble an 11s Shimano 12-34 cassette by doing the following:
Buy HG800 11-34 Cassette.
Buy 6800 12t 1st position cog.
Throw 11t 1st position cog in the drawer/toolbox/dumpster.
Mount 12-34 cassette (no special lockring needed, the HG800 is fine).
Go Ride.
JensonUSA stocks the 12t 6800 1st position cog.

Cheaper, too!
One caution is their aluminum carrier for the big sprocket is not clearanced around the hub. So if you have an unlucky combination of flange width/height/spoke elbows, it may not clear.
Another option would be SRAM if you can live with 11-36.

Just to be clear, this is for the IRD cassette, not the HG800, right?
Correct, the IRD cassette.
It was a problem on two wheelsets that had converted 10 speed freehubs (where it was milled down) but not a problem on a native 11 speed hub.
No issue with Shimano or SRAM.

Has anyone paired the SRAM 11-36 with a Shimano Ultegra 6800 50/34 and a GS RD? SRAM states emphatically that it only works with a 1x, but I'm wondering if they mean with their RD...

I am running a SRAM 11-36 (1130) with a 6800 GS and 46/34 CX70 crankset with no issues at all. Shifts great, as a matter of fact. I initially put it together using a Roadlink but decided to try it without and it works perfectly.

Excellent! Thanks for the feedback. I now have multiple people telling me it will work, so I think I'll pull the trigger!
