I picked up my new to me TT bike and wheels this week. And even though I have a zipp 808 on the back, I'm tempted to try making a wheel cover. Anyone tried it? Success? Failure? Tips?

there are quite a few threads on this on slowtwitch. Use google's search function to locate it (https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b&ei=GrkvW_SiGIqe5gKy9oqgDw&q=diy+disc+cover+site%3Aslowtwitch.com&oq=diy+disc+cover+site%3Aslowtwitch.com&gs_l=psy-ab.3...6383.19004.0.19260.36.36.0.0.0.0.166.3402.1 8j15.33.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..3.18.2059...0j0i131k1j0i67k1j0i131i67k1j0i22i3 0k1j33i21k1j33i160k1.0.EOdWKwpawEo)

IMO, the home made versions never seem to come out as good as just getting an aero cover. Wheelbuilder make some good ones. They'll even custom fit for your specific model of 808.

FWIW the black aero jacket isn’t for JRA. Race only. I’ve seen some awesome balsa wood ones, or thick Mylar.

The recumbent folks have been very creative there, no idea how their products did aero-wise but i suspect almost *any* disc cover is better than an unfaired wheel.
There also was the "Unidisc" commercially available, which was some cloth, a glass fibre rod and some clips.
