Steve's post about love hate CF got me thinking about the way we post opinions, sometimes as fact or at least they are sometimes taken that way.

I had no idea Steve was 245 lbs and 6' 4". Yeah, that could change the way someone thinks about any bike. Likewise if we knew somebody was 5'6' and 125 lbs. Now William, we've known about William ever since he posted those photos rounding the bend in that crit (not to mention those hideous OSU jersey shots :p ). What works for William or Steve, or some flyweight, may or may not ring true for you.

I like ESPN radio. On the Dan Patrick show callers identify themselves by height and weight.

5'11" 188. Ding!

Another thought. I think we should link photos of our bike(s) in our posts. Not so we can flaunt but more so we can get an idea about size and what each of us likes in a ride...racer, tourer, fixie, CF, steel etc. DBRK could just do a post of his basement ;) Anyway, I think these ideas might lead to better communication and understanding of each other's views. Then again, maybe not.

What say you all?

I'm gonna memorize each and everyone's stats you got another thing coming. It would be prudent if when people discuss themselves and their issues or concerns that they reveal that detail then. Oooorrrr, they can get rid of the lovely artwork at the end of each posting, such as I have here, and provide the gruesome details there, but there ain't a snowball's chance in hell I'm going to come running back to this thread just to find out you're a goofy-legged, knuckle-dragger such as myself.

If you really want full disclosure, let's go for a ride. One thing I hate about internet forums is you don't know who you're talking to. For me the truth is found out on the road with your butt in the saddle. Anyone can claim to be a former euro pro on an internet forum...

OK, point of clarification:

I think when we post opinions about a particular bike or component, that as part of our opinion, we add our size. The photo links was just an idea so we could get an idea of what type bikes you like to ride. Obviously with some the list is far too long than say with me, who only has one type of "hammer".

Anyway, it's fun to post this stuff here but I'm going to forget it all in about 5 seconds. All except that Fat Robert isn't so fat. I'm writing that one down.

bcm119
10-23-2006, 06:06 PM
Yeah but weight is only part of the equation when you're talking about equipment feel, durability, etc. The other part is what kind of rider you are... a Sunday tourist, a cat 2, etc. I think we have a wide range here, and if you start qualifying opinions based on weight, speed and ability its going to alienate a lot of folks. Maybe I just spend too much time here, but I know who the real deal cyclists are from reading many of their posts, and that works for me. I hope that didn't sound too obnoxious.

I own one DT bike...

Maybe we need to start a thread about who owns bikes DT once owned.
Could be the longest thread ever.

Guilty !!!!

But DBRK owned it before him.

And I have another DBRK frame which before him was owned by Chris.

Does everyone know the provenance of all of their frames?

I COULD be wrong- but I dont think Dave ever has THAT many bikes at once- he move bikes in and out of his stable constantly (trust me I own two ex- DT bikes)

again- I could be wrong-

Dave- HOW many bikes DO YOU HAVE-

6'3"

210 lbs (down from 250)

I just can't drop the last 10lbs........

Last winter I was bored so a friend and I decied to try and reach 315lbs bench. I work out regularly, but mostly only go to 185-200. I gained an extra 35lbs, and has taken a long time to loose. I also reached over 700lbs for squat.......

Now I've just been swimming, but laying off any free weights.....returning to normal...

Waiting for the check.

Don't forget, you have to wait 3 weeks after depositing it before shipping...

Sorry to hear that. Need a few frames? I have a built-up De Rosa that may interest you...

Thanks. :D My 'winter project' bike is nearing completion, next week or so. I have to learn how to sew. Then all I'll need is some sort of riding weather, though not likely for several more months.

Don't you have to go paint a C-17 or something?
