These hubs represent, to me - the best of what campy has ever offered. When i saw these wheels pop up on ebay, and eventually counted the spokes with my mechanical pencil pressed against the computer monitor, i knew i had to have them.

i may just ride the wheels as is for a while, but red rims are.....weird?

anyway, i was thinking of pairing these to a set of the newest crop of Open Pro rims - has anyone gotten their hands on a set of them yet?

Pacenti Forza with the offset rear would be my choice. Wide internal width. Running a set and very happy with them.

I would do boy altamont lite ceramics. the 28 campy deserve a baller rim.

I agree, these are some of the greatest hubs.

I wish campy made disc hubs

Non disc, don't think the newest OP is anything but 32 or 36h.

DT411(if light), DT511, Velocity A23...TUBULAR!!! C'mon, don't be a nancy...:)

I wouldn't use the new OP. They have a lower max tension and those hubs have a relatively high tension imbalance. As James said, the Forza would be my choice. The offset rear will give you more tension on the left.

Those aren't old school. I'm rollin' Bullseye hubs with a 6 speed freewheel( remember those) on my commuter!

I was going to suggest something OC for the rear as well. The Forza looks really nice.

There are also options from Kinlin and DT Swiss, I think. A23 OC for silver or polished.

Alternatively, if you wanted a good baller 650b wheelset lace those up to Pacenti Brevets.

I'd agree with Ergott about the new Mavics.

However, it looks like those are built with DT/Swiss rims. Those are really very nice rims. You aren't gaining much by going to anything else. Why not just ride them? You can convert them to tubeless if you need. They're narrow, but that goes with the vintage of the hubs, and you can still ride a very good intermediate-sized tire on them (27 mm or so).

However, it looks like those are built with DT/Swiss rims.

Given that they're red anodized (of which MAVIC seemed to be pretty fond in that era) and have a MAVIC sticker as well I'd guess they're probably MAVIC rims built with DT Swiss spokes.

You can get a new Open Pro (UST) in 28h, but they're really ugly.

I think the grey/hard ano Archetype looks really slick with silver hubs and spokes. I have a set laced to silver T11s.

I noticed the sticker. That's all. But if Mavic red rims, likely CXP-33's or CXP-30's. If so, really nice rims. Again, why change?

Those would look great laced to a pair of polished silver TB14s.

Those aren't old school. I'm rollin' Bullseye hubs with a 6 speed freewheel( remember those) on my commuter!Bullseyes are my all time favorite hubs....they roll like nothing else. I still have a few pair of them.
