One of the velcro straps on my gloves is separating between layers.
Is there a strong bonding agent that is flexible enough to endure the on/ off loading of a glove strap?

If your gloves are like most it's best to sew the Velcro in place. It's not hard and someone with a sewing machine and polyester thread can knock out the repair in a couple minutes.

Go to MEC and get a tube of freesole. Exactly what you are looking for.

Barge Cement is the go to. https://www.amazon.com/Barge-50-2129-Parent-All-Purpose-Cement/dp/B01MCYXY6R.

Barge cement

Saw the title and came here to post exactly this. I've done the same repair with Barge Cement successfully, it was recommended years ago by a shoe store and I've used it ever since.

Barge (brand name) Cement (contact cement), carried everywhere.

Someone recommended "Barge Cement" to me recently, specifically to glue a saddle cover back onto a saddle (Fizik Arione).

Is "Barge Cement" exactly the same stuff as say 3M Contact Cement, or is it different, stronger, more permanent, etc?
.

I've used both, the 3M used to be labeled "Trim Glue", I grew up with it as my dad's go to. Both Barge and the 3M work very well, but the 3M is both VERY messy (all contact cements are messy/stringy, but the 3M was above and beyond) and more brittle when dry. The Barge, although not "flexible" in the Shoe Goo (Silicone adhesive) sense, is the most flexible contact cement I've tired.

I've used both on saddles. Although both worked well the 3M was impossible to clean off the cover and was relegated to the parts bin replaced with a much more easily cleaned (soon after applying) Barge adhered cover.

OK, it seems I should definitely use the Barge to re-glue the Fizik Arione cover., even over Shoo Goo, right? Thanks much.

Also, what's the thinner/cleaner to use with Barge?
.

Shoo Goo was just too thick, had too large an impact on the resulting shape of the skin to base result although it's still my go to for building up soles of beloved shoes that should have been tossed years ago.

I've found it essential to clean contact cement ASAP, as in immediately, if you don't apply it as desired. That is nearly impossible with the 3M in my experience, but possible with Barge. I've successfully used alcohol soon after application to clean Barge, but have not tried acetone for fear of the damage it might cause.

Excellent, thanks very much. Barge it is then.
.

One thing I forgot to mention is that it tends to last a long time without drying out or plugging the outlet, huge bonus. I've had to throw away little used tubes of the 3M after a year or so.

Thanks. Looks like Barge Cement wins the popular vote. But in Canada, that means someone else gets the win.

Now to find it in this country - at a reasonable price. Looks like MEC has it for $20. Maybe a Home Hardware carries it for less.

I have used Freesole and it's awesome. Be sure to store in the freezer in a baggie!

An alternate product you can try is 3m weatherstrip adhesive. Can pick it up at almost any decent purveyor of auto parts.

I've recently been using go2 glue. It works pretty well.

It's flexible when it dries...much like those silicone gripper stripes.
