Sorry Angry, this doesn't answer your question... but which Shimano 12-30 9-speed cassette are you using? Thanks!

Website descriptions indicate the last two cogs of 10s Centaur are on an aluminum carrier. Not sure about Veloce.

10s sprocket thickness is 1.7mm versus 1.75mm for 9s. Not sure to what degree using 9 of 10 with 9s spacers would negatively impact indexed shifting performance. This is not something I've done; just throwing it out there. Where's Old Spud when you need him?

cool.

this is a friction shift bike, so a lot of the shifting concerns are not there.

i think i'll piece something together.

FWIW, I had some spare loose 10 spd cogs and (using 9 spd spacers) cooked up a 13-29 for my daughter's bike using several 9 spd cogs and a couple of the 10 spd ones.

Works great.

I just did this very thing -- the Campagnolo Veloce 9 speed 13-28T I bought was all loose cogs. Then I bought a Miche 11 speed final-position 32T cog from the UK (was hard to find), and removed the 14T. Viola, 13-32T.

You'll need a different width spacer between the 32T Miche and the 28T Campagnolo to keep the cog-to-cog spacing uniform, as the Miche is a thicker piece of aluminum. Won't have to be quite as bang-on if just using a friction shifter.
