Which road cycling shoes have the most ventilation? I ride in south Texas and the wonderful heat and humidity is upon us earlier than usual. currently using a new set of spec torch 3.0 shoes and I find the ventilation lacking. What would be a better option?

ooooh....good to know. i was about to buy the torch 3.0 because it looked like it had good ventilation.

maybe the giro techlace? although i have no actual experience with it.

Tri shoes. Having used the Shimano TR01, 02, and 50 something, its hard to go back to road shoes. That said, the Shimano R321 is pretty breezy and I switched because the wide fit works really well for me. The Specialized tri vents are great too from what I hear.

Most free breathing shoes I've worn, would probably be Mavic's. Especially the older ones like the Zxellium's.

The best ones in pictures i ever seen were Lake, the problem is that is a discontinued model.

Any model--best bet for the heat, and the toe squeezing effect of every traditional cycling shoe.
Socks or no socks--dealers choice

Thats the one i was talking about, bad thing they discontinued it to put a lot of none sense in they already wide variety of models.

I do not know man, is so simple, 3 different models, one plasti, two carbon... normal and wide... offer different colors and good to go... but when they go like with 20 different models wide, normal and like with 5 different colors, you start asking yourself how in the world they keep stock of everything? There's some models at lake's website that looks like nobody has for sale anywhere.

For example the 300 looked rad, made for summer...

I wholeheartedly agree. It's kinda like the menu at Cheesecake Factory or Claim Jumper......you can't have 48 'quality' items on a menu (same goes for # of shoe models).

I can't bash on them too much though since my MX237's are by far the most comfortable mtb shoe I've ever owned.

But as for the 300's.....set a 'search' on Ebay and I guarantee a set'll pop up in your size.

I use Mavic Zxellium Ultimate's although you have to look around for them. Super lightweight and very well vented. Here's a link so you can see what their tri shoe looks like @ 240 grams and well vented
